Great thread d3mon. Xч is right, this is tough. I have to strongly disagree with those who don't think Halloween had a decent amount of quality sequels. The only major stinkers IMO were 5 and Resurrection.
1. Halloween: Halloween 4 is my personal favorite of them all (although I agree the original is the best film). I also really like II, III, 6, and H20. This was the first horror series I really got into so I'm sure nostalgia plays a role but I truly love a lot of the series.
2. Children of the Corn: I'll admit, the sequels are pretty weak but I still get a kick out of them and enjoy the premise of the series for some reason.
3. Scream: Love the first, and although 2 & 3 are pretty shabby, they're still better than the average horror sequels IMO. 4 was pretty good.
4. The Living Dead Series: The first two are so great they deserve this spot from me.
5. Friday the 13th: Plenty of good sequels, some of them better than the original IMO. The first 4 are my favorite with 4 being #1 for me.
A Nightmare on Elm Street is the runner up since I love the original and there's some decent sequels as well. I should clarify that I have never seen the Hellraiser sequels (really like the first though) and I have never seen any of the Sleepaway Camp series (I know blasphemy, but I'll check them out ASAP).

A Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy Krueger is my favorite so-called Horror icon. I like the concept of the films as well, even when they begin to get sillier. It probably doesn't hurt that I have quite the nostalgic appreciation attached to them.
Jaws: Despite me not liking Jaws 3 or Jaws: The Revenge, the first two films are enjoyable. I really enjoy the first film, and consider it in my Top 5 movies of all time. I'd love to see something done with this franchise, but alas... too many shitty shark movies have tainted the idea of a killer shark.
Phantasm: Definitely an enjoyable watch. I like the concept, the characters, and the Tall Man's involvement in anything is always fascinating. It has a kick ass soundtrack, too.
Alien: My own personal canon is 1-3. I really dislike Resurrection. Just an all around enjoyable trilogy, which each delivers a different tone and feel. As disliked as the third entry is, it definitely is a great conclusion to the series. Over the years I've grown soft on it, and even more so since Resurrection.
Puppet Master: Badass puppet designs, a kick ass soundtrack, and some B-movie entertainment. It's almost a guilty pleasure of mine, but the puppets are always a thrill to look at.
