VERY surprised I never responded to this.
That said, here's my Top 5 (as of typing this):
1. Jaws 2. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. 3. Friday the 13th, Part 4: The Final Chapter. 4. Alien. 5. Dawn of the Dead.
Jaws is an entertaining movie, and one of the few that still sticks to the back of my mind when I'm swimming, especially in deep water.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master is just an interesting and fascinating movie to me. I like the special effects, the concept, and Krueger looks the best to me here.
I'd include Friday the 13th, Part 3 with the fourth film, since they do come off as the same movie, especially with the 3rd's ending and the 4th's beginning. This, to me, was the peak of Jason.
I'd have put Aliens, which I like a tad bit more, but that film comes off as more Science Fiction and Action, and this being Horror, I figured I'd go with the original. It's unique concept and homages to older films is cool, and it has an awesome-looking creature.
Dawn of the Dead is, to me, the epitome of a zombie film. Sure, Night of the Living Dead is incredible too, but Dawn of the Dead takes it a step further. Day of the Dead, though it has grown on me over the years, won't ever catch up to the second entry in Romero's Dead series.
