Yup i think so too. At least in the unrated cut he went out with a bang. Yep, the whole reason for Ishmael's death was to show you michael was brutal, completly evil. The WP ending contradicts that.

They only did that to set up a sequel.

2 me rob screwed up michael way 2 much.1 i never liked the idea of a remake but i gave it a shot and was extermily disapointed.and younger michael talking screwd up alot but i admit he was brutal but they gave 2 many explantions michael is evil plane and simple pluse i hated younger michael and it was better when he was just a six yr old kid who stabed his sister just for the fact hes evil not a 10 yr old who has a striper mom and a drunk dad.and laurie got on my nerves so damn much i actually wanted her 2 die threw it all.michael not acting like he wanted 2 kill laurie was lame.i admit some scenes at the end where good but its wasent enouth 2 save it.the original was perfection and rob made me love the original more and H07 just screwd up michael and everything else.
-11/5

-11/5 I'm really disappointed about this remake,First time in all my 27 years of living and 20 some odd years of being a very very hardcore horror fan this ever happened when i saw a horror film..
It was completely unnecessary to remake Carpenters masterpiece. From the beginning of the film i was turned off by all the foul language. Something you never found in the original.
Also please note that nothing really new was found in this film..All the best scenes found in the original is also found in the remake..even up to the sheets in glasses scene.Even the "Totally" lines, that was not acted well at all was in it. Every single cast from devils rejects was in this movie..that alone made the film unbelievable.
I rate this Theatrical version a 0
Let me tell ya,when i got home i hugged all the copies of John Carpenters One and only Halloween.. I love the film even more now after seeing Zombies garbage. -XN _____________________________________________________ That is all i wanted to say.. Halloween is a dangerous domain to enter...Its a classic (Other Dangerous movies not to be remade by Rob Zombie: Friday The 13th, Nightmare on elm street,Hellraiser with Hellraiser i have a little bit of hope sense Clive is writing the script,Child's Play,Candyman and many others) Rob Zombie should have never did this..If he just went and made Halloween 9 i would have liked it much much better..than this remake..No sense and no continuity at all.
Rob is a great man..god knows i love his first 2 original films..House and rejects..But it seems he can not make anything else nowadays..just like his music..the same stuff over and over and over again. ____________________________________________________ With the folks who love this movie,It's cool..
Halloween 9 would have been a better idea..
Not Carpenter's classic...not Carpenter's Classic at all..no _____________________________________________________ If you love the movie thats your opinion... I certainly respect that You either love it or hate it....
Update:I still feel the same way i did when i first wrote this. The theatrical version just isn't my cup of tea at all. Now since i have the unrated dvd i rate it 3/10
Its just another Zombie Movie to me.Hopefully in the future he can redeem himself by making a movie everybody enjoys. P.S. I still don't like this movie as a whole..i only brought the dvd for GIF images. Some scenes were ok.
I understand how you feel H-11.

I wonder what would happen if the unrated version was shown on cable TV?
It would probably be 15 minutes long.

Most of the sex and violence in the original would be fine to show after 9 PM.

Okay no offense guys but I am going to ignore everything that was said in this thread so far. I just bought the 2 disc unrated DVD and watched it. I haven't watched disc 2 yet so I haven't seen the alt. ending. BUT as far as the film goes here is what I have to say......
Well first off I didn't go into this as looking at it as a remake, but as a retelling. So in seeing Micheal killing animals, being perverted didn't bother me as much as others.
I mean come on who are we to judge from the original how his family life was, they never really went there did they. They never said Michaels mom was a sleeper or not. I mean come on they only uttered one word and that was his name.
With that being said, I can believe that a crazed killer come from a family as Rob put it than a "normal family". The fact that Micheal did talk a bit to Loomis a getting less and less as time went on seemed to be more believable to me anyway.
I think as horror fans we thought too much about this one (Yes Conan I know I am going to eat crow cause of my views on DOTD remake) But this in a way isn't really a remake but a prequel. It didn't work for Lucas, but IMO it did work for Zombie.
GO ON ROB MAKE ROSENTHAL PROD AND TACKLE HALLOWEEN II !!!!!!!!!!!!

My sig you can thatnk XN for!!! Props bud.
I liked Halloween, I will never say I love ot. But Originals will always hold a candle in my heart. But I can open my heart up frm time to time. I mean DOTD remake sucked ass. But that is my opinion and mune only. I will never down anyone for not liking thisfilm. But I saw it for what it was, it was what Rob wanted, but didnt get to see the first time around. BUT what Rob made wasnt what John Carpenter was going for. The one thing I do think Rob should have done was refer to Michael as THE SHAPE in the credits. But hey that is petty anny!

The shape in JC's Halloween was scarier than Rob Zombies version IMO.Rob Zombie's Myers was an all out slaughtering maniac.
Jc's myers was a silent killer which in my opinion is much more terrifying. You never knew what the shape was thinking or what his next move would be.Rob's version was out of control-like if he was high on speed or something.
Jc's Halloween just had a lot more class to me than Zombies's remake. If this was just another Zombie movie rather than a remake i would probably enjoy and accept it more.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Hudson, glad you enjoyed the movie.

I think Jeremy means the setting couldn't be the same as the original Halloween 2 because it was a different studio that did that. I think you can never say never about anything though. Rob has said he isn't interested in doing a sequel. But then again he also said before he did Halloween he wasn't interested in doing a remake. I think if he was offered enough money he'd do another one. I also think if they wanted to do the Hospital setting badly enough for the sequel they'd pay for the right to. I think for the film to do better though both things shouldn't happen. If they want to continue it and make more people happy they'll keep Zombie away and try for an original idea for a sequel.

Yes, why would that confuse you? Just because they remade Part 1 does it mean all the years of Halloween Storyline they already made is scrapped?
