As a kid, I was scared of basically anything.
As a result, my parents really sheltered me, so I didn't see my first horror movie until I was 16 or 17.
I found that in order to not be scared, I made myself watch all of the scary and gory movies I possible could. It was successful, and today, it takes a lot to really scare me.
Anyone else go through this?

What I do is if I've seen the movie and I know the scene really scares me I distract myself so as to not get to scared. I don't look away from the screen exactly but instead I focus on just one spot on the screen like a characters elbow or a wall in the scene. But it takes a pretty special movie to scare me like that these days.

The only thing that can get me nervous is ghost stories.
Back when I was a kid, people convinced me that someone was going to kill me in my sleep, so I was freaked out.
I also don't like the dark sometimes.

Camping in the middle of the woods at night, especially with a light rain and wind, that is pretty scary.
As for unscaring myself, I just keep encountering it until it eventually loses its appeal. Like teenagers with fads, it will go away once it loses its luster, most times.

When I was up north on my vacation, I sometimes thought of Jason being there in the woods.

When i go hunting we just find a good spot in the woods and set up camp. Usially 10 miles into the wilderness. The only thing i hate are the black bear, Im not afraid to get attacked or anything, There just soooo loud.

You're not alone. I'm deathly afraid of spiders. One of my friends friends payed for it too. You see my friend knew I was afraid of spiders so he thought it would be funny to borrow his friends tarantula sneak up behind me and put it on my shoulder. Well of course I freaked out knocked it off my shoulder and proceeded to smash it into a fine paste. Then I beat the crap out of my friend. Needless to say his friend was pissed that his pet was dead and was mad at me. Once I explained how afraid of spiders I was and what my friend had done he beat the crap out of my friend too and made him pay to replace it. I of course apologized for killing his pet but he said I didn't need to since it really wasn't my fault. Needless to say my friend learned not to pull that kind of stunt again.

I hate the dark. I just never know what's there and after a prank my friend Jen pulled, I'm even more afraid now. She "borrowed" my Jason mask and hid in my room after turning out all the lights. I didn't know she was up there because she'd gone out in the kitchen to get a drink. (we have 2 stairways, one in the kitchen, one on the room). My room is next to the stairway, so when I went up I was a little freaked cause all the lights were off. She slammed the door shut behind me and pinned me to the wall like he would and I screamed bloody murder.
