If you want to watch a movie that feels like it was made in the late 70's to early 80's you need to check this film out. Every aspect of it feels like one of those classics from that era. Ti West did an amazing job with an attention to detail that is amazing. If you are like me and LOVED the late 70's early 80's you wont want to miss this movie.
Here's a synopsis.
From writer-director Ti West comes 'The House of the Devil,' a satanic thriller set in the 1980s starring Jocelin Donahue (JT Petty's forthcoming 'The Burrowers'), indie ingenue Greta Gerwig ('Hannah Takes the Stairs,' 'Baghead'), Tom Noonan ('Snow Angels,' 'Manhunter'), Mary Woronov ('Eating Raoul,' 'The Devil's Rejects'), AJ Bowen ('The Signal') and Dee Wallace ('E.T.,' 'Rob Zombie's Halloween').
"Sam (Donahue) is a pretty college sophomore, so desperate to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby. Mr. and Mrs. Ulman (cult actors Noonan and Woronov) are the older couple who lure Sam out to their creeky Victorian mansion deep in the woods, just in time for a total lunar eclipse. Megan (Gerwig) is Sam's best friend, who gives her a ride out to the house, and reluctantly leaves her there despite suspecting that something is amiss. Victor (Bowen) at first seems like just a creepy guy lurking around the house, but quickly makes it clear that Sam will end this night in a bloody fight for her life..."
To some people this will be a little slow. But I think it's worth it.

I have this movie. The atmosphere was perfect for me. The whole build up and the creepy old man, oh and how about that "are you the babysitter?... BLAMMM" part huh.Crazy scene man. Real good movie. The ending was weird, but highly recommended for you old school horror fans out there.
You'll love this one Friday.

I've really been wanting to see this one since it came out. A little short on funds right now, so it might be a bit before I can pick it up. Hearing that Kyle and Armin liked it makes me wanna see it even more.

No problem Greg. I understand the not having funds thing. If that link doesn't work when you're able to watch it let me know. I can find you another. Hope you like the movie. I'm still amazed how much it feels like an 80's film. Ti West should get the chance to do a remake since they are so prevalent these days. Lord knows he'd do a good job making one feel like one of the classics.

Hmm. I'll take yalls word and try to watch this. I'll click that link to see if it works on my other browser tonight.
About the only film I have seen that has a nostolgic classic 80s feel to it today is probably Return to Sleepaway Camp.

Amazing movie. If I didn't know better, I'd swear this one was filmed in the early 80's. The atmosphere was perfect, and the slow build-up really paid off in the end. They don't make 'em like this anymore, which is a shame. This was pretty much a perfect horror film. I watched it on the link that Kyle posted, but I'll be buying it soon. I have to have it in my collection.

Well most don't anyway. Obviously Ti West did. It's a shame this movie didn't get the big Hollywood treatment with release in thousands of theaters. It deserved more attention to show Hollywood how to do it right.

I remember hearing they had released a limited amount on VHS. Talk about going old school. Makes me wish I still had a VCR.

I remember hearing they had released a limited amount on VHS. Talk about going old school. Makes me wish I still had a VCR. Come on now, you havvvvvvvve to have a VCR. All horror fans should have a VCR ;D I thought mine last week was about to die. I have to admit my VCR has outlasted TWO DVD players so far which is very telling. But it needed a head cleaning otherwise I would have became borderline psychotic Especialy with all the things I get at thrift stores I show yall in the "latest purchases" I'd be lost without mine. And I really want to see this movie!

I had a VCR until about a year and a half ago. But it died on me and I haven't had the money to replace it. I can't wait to hear what you and Chainsaw think of it once you do get to watch it.
