A year or so ago I made a few threads called " top 10 facts or fun facts" I had intded to do it periodically like how Abraxas has his movie marathons ( which are cool by the way) but I just never got around to doing them well since the Nightmare On Elm St remake came out this weekend what better way to start than with well Nightmare on elm street. Also if you guys have any facts that I missed post em! Enjoy!
10: The movie's title A Nightmare On Elm St was actually taken from a newspaper headline in Dallas Texas that reported on JFK's assasination. The street he was on was named Elm Street.
9: The appearance of Fred Krueger ( Hat, disfigured, sweater ect) came from a hobo that scared Wes Craven as a child.
8: The name Fred Krueger came from a bully Wes knew as a kid.
7: The posters of both NOES 1 and 2 show a different Freddy who has one screwed up eye, parts of his skull showing, his cheek exposed and a skeleton like claw. The only films to get close to this was New Nightmare ( the bio-claw) and the remake in which Freddy had a screwed up eye and an exposed cheek. This was the original appearance of Freddy but in 1984 it couldn't have been done.
6: Robert Eunglund has appeared in almost everything related to Freddy in the media. like commericals, tv shows, music videos ect.
5: Before the remake was created it was supposed to be a prequel highlighting Freddys reign of terror as the Springwood Slasher.
4: Wes Craven created New Nightmare only becuase he was pissed that Freddys Dead sucked and he meant for it to be the true final nightmare.
3: The ending of the first Nightmare was supposed to be a happy ending but it was later scrapped becuase New Line wanted to franchise it whereas Craven did not want to franchise it.
2: New Line cinema is referred to as " The House Freddy Built" becuase the NOES films made them successful.
1: The premise of the dream killings came from an actual event that occured in the late 70s in L.A in which people kept dying in their sleep for what seemed to be now reason.
If I missed any facts, post them!
