I didn't even know this was being remade Madman is a 1982 slasher film low budget similar to the Burning and the Prowler in many aspects. It's pretty gritty. It's not the best movie ever but hey at least it's original right? Guess what? KURT ANGLE from wrestling is going to play Madman Marz slating to start filming in 2011 and be released in 3D Predictions for this? Bomb or not? Wind up direct to video or not instead of theaterical? Let's not all get excited at one time! LINK

I love Kurt so I'll definitely check it out. He's also doing a movie with Kevin Nash and Sid Vicious called River of Darkness. I saw the previews and it looked pretty funny.

Well do I really want somebody who does funny roles as Madman Marz though? :S
I guess at least this is a silent killer unless they pull a RZH2 on us. I doubt this movie is getting a theaterical release, I just don't see it happening. It's not that well known and will probably tank at the box office.

Yeah the only way it will end up in the theatre is if they get another name attached to it. I mean Angle is famous in wrestling circles but not much else. I mean Steve Austin had more celebrity status if you will at one time and yet he still ended up with most of his movies going direct to dvd, I can't think of one recently that made it into the theatre except for the upcoming The Expendables but there again there are alot of big names attached to that movies other than him.

It could get a limited release like Hatchet, but it hardly seems worth making it in 3D for such a paltry theater count

Kurt Angle isn't exactly The Rock...I mean Dwayne Johnson... these days.

The last unknown slasher remake was My Bloody Valentine. It grossed 51,545,952 overall and was #3 at the box office for that weekend. I just don't see this doing . . . that good maybe not even that.

Wrestlers taking to acting has always been hit and miss.
Roddy Piper is great in They Live, while Hogan has been in some questionable films.

Not sure what to think, I've been hearing rumours of the remake but nothing definate, and never until now hearing Angle linked to it. Just plain weird.

Yeah when I came across that news I was like what! I didn't even know there was one even being done. That's all I know is him playing the role, who in the WORLD is directing and writing this though? I have no clue.

From Retroslashers "No talk of an old slasher movie resurfacing would be complete without bringing up the possibility of another Madman movie. Sales enthusiastically outlined to us what he refers to internally as the Madman Marz 3D Re-Imagining Project. “I’m in talks with studios and foreign buyers for a release in 2011. The script has been written by Paul “Madman Marz” Ehlers, his son Jon (born during production) and myself. It’s killah! Really killah!” We’ve also heard that it could function as a dual reboot/sequel similar to Friday The 13th (2009) but plan a follow up conversation with Sales in future to address this"
It's weird that that link is the only place I've seen that confrims anything. I hope it's reputable, actually in thi case I hope it's not lol.

I hope not as well! I think we have seen more horror remakes in the last few years than actual original movies and somthing needs to stop the train wreck already! I hope this can't get funded and just dies. I just don't see the atmosophere that was great in this little movie working lie it did in that one. I also enjoyed that cheesy Madman Marz song as well

Are they going to sing that little song at the beginning while around the campfire and redo that hot tub scene with that dude who looked like he's been in late 70s pornos anyway?
The coolest thing about Madman was that it was right in that slasher period yet it was at a campsite in the WINTER and with adults around and the whole damn thing is at night. Gritty is the word, rebel. Much of the action you can hardly make out what is going on due to the darkness of it. But it's a must-watch for horror fans.

I'm not interested in the remake. But the original classic is awesome. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TX8Q6K/ref=oss_product
I have both the original and most recent release of madman marz on disc. The cheese in this film is great. Hopefully they decide to release madman on Blu-ray.

I would like to see a Madman remake but with someone else playing the role of Madman Marz and not having it in 3D.I think it's a good idea to remake it because todays youth probley doesn't even know this film exists and even some fans maybe so it could get the film better known and more attention. I do think that it would bomb at the box office which is sad.

I'm really tired of all these remakes tbh. Especially when they're in 3D.

I only saw the original just recently. I don't get the love for the film. I thought it was boring and had some horrible makeup. Remaking a bad film is fine IMO.
