Recently I started thinking and I believe Michael Myers suffers from two psychological disorders the first being D.I.D or Dissascoiative identity disorder in which the person who has it comitts horrible crimes and mentally blocks it out by wearing a mask or assuming another idnteity. Norman Bates has this and I believe Michael has the same thing but to a lesser extent. As for what happened that night when he was 6, well that can be explained. It's a rare psychological disorder ( the name escapes me) but it's when a normal indvidual with no history of violence or insane behavior. This was discovered in the mid 90s in Boston when an insurance agent who had a steady job, happy life, good marraige ya know the happy stuff. Well this man brutally murdered his wife one day when she overcooked some food. He carved her lungs and heart out and put them on awooden stake in the backyard but yet he had no idea he even did it and went on with his dialy life ( he was caught). Michael couldve had that and had been mislabeled as evil becuase they didn't know what else he couldve had. As for how he can take pain, again that is a result of D.I.D he is so disassociated that his brain does not register the pain at all whatsoever. As for why he is emotionless and quiet it's a coping mechnaism, we know he has killed people without a mask and he deals with it by shutting down completely. What do you guys think?

I completely agree with you Leatherface. All the signs seem to be there. Michael DID is way more full time than Normans is. Norman is Norman most of the time. Not so much the killer mother. Michael is always a killer behind the mask.

And when you remove that mask he copes by shutting down completely. People have to remember in the 60s/70s mental patients like Michael were just written off and forgotten about. Which never helped

Halloween 1 and 2 took place on the same night an Michael was starting to feel pain when Laurie shot him, one can only ignore so much pain for so long so the explosion ended him as for the sequels...yeah...it throws it all out the window

Very good anaylsis, of course once you get past the first two movies, yeah its just a slasher with no purpose just to kill family and be happy??

The pure evil thing works better for the future installments aside from 6 with the whole thorn thing.

Yeah that diagnosis fits really well for the first 2 movies. After that you almost have to assume that something supernatural has taken him over.

Yeah I believe that in the later films Michael is 100% supernatural, but H20 could work due to the major time gap but even then that's really pushing it.

Believe it or not someone with a very deep version of D.I.D can block out pain completely. When your brain doesn't register pain, your body can take more than the average person. More that can kill the average person. So i'd say from the middle to end of Halloween 2 Michael was dying slowly. EDIT- The symptoms/characteristics of D.I.D match Myers' behavior take a look www.webmd.com/mental-health/dissociative-identity-disorder-multiple-personality-disorder

How do we know all 6 actually hit Michael? you can survive a gunshot wound if it doesn't hit any vital areas same with stabbing, now if the whole blade went through then it's a different story and his eye wasn't poked out but he may have been hit in the eye. Madness can make men survive the impossible.

The hangar couldve hit him below or above the eye and maybe 3 shots actually hit Michael. As for the fall it wasn't that high it probably hurt like hell but one can get up and walk away from that.

I think its safe to assume that at least some of the shots hit Michael because if they didnt than there was no reason for him to stumble backward and off the balcon like that. Also, don't forget the opening to Halloween 2, when Loomis goes outside to where Michael landed and touches the grass there was blood on his hand when he picked his hand up, we also get Michael bleeding when he sneaks into the kitchen behind the woman making sandwiches as he picks up the knifle from the cutting board he drips blood on the board and the sandwich. So we know he was injured to the extent that he was bleeding pretty freely from at least 2 places on his body, but to what extent those injuries were its hard to tell.

Though I suppose this is all in the eye of the beholder to me in 1 he was insane and in the middle of 2 he became somewhat supernatural.
