After witnessing his parents brutal murder on Christmas Eve by a thief wearing a Santa Claus suit, a young boy is sent to an orphanage where he is mistreated by the harsh and cold Mother Superior. When he is older, he's given a job in a department store, but ends up losing his mind after being forced to dress up as the store Santa. Now Kris Kringle is on a bloody rampage back to the orphanage and no one is safe.
This one is notorious for being protested by angry parents when it was released back in 1984. A perfect holiday movie! ;D

Oops. LOL That's right. They are doing a remake that's what threw it off in my head. Black Christmas is an even Better movie. The original. The remake is the movie I was insulting in my original post. LOL

You aren't missing anything. I knew it was going to be bad so I watched it online. Thank God I didn't waste money on it. LOL

You want to know how I knew it was going to be bad? The stupid current cultural reference they made in one of the commercials. One of the characters says something like "Dude you've been punked!" Referencing that stupid show on MTV. If they have to stoop to adding lines like that to the movie in order to try to get teens to like it I knew not to have high expectations.

Pretty fun slasher to watch. Wasn't as great as I thought it would be though.

In the going to pieces movie, they show clips of people standing outside the theater yelling and demanding the movie be removed when SNDN was first released. How ridiculous is that huh? Getting all upset over a fake horror movie that happens to have killer santas in it.
I agreed 100% with what Felissa Rose had to say about it all.
I'm glad they re-released it on dvd uncut recently.
Cause come on,you gotta agree with the old man in the beginning of the movie.
"Xmas eve,is the scariest damn night of the year" ;D

Yep, Felissa Rose definitely speaks the truth. Plenty of people could take a page out of her book, very sensible.

what gets me about the whole controversy thing is that why pick on this movie in particular- Killer Santas arent particularly new, in fact in some cultures santa is pretty bleak to begin with.

.
some parents felt that all innocence was lost. So they gathered in hordes and protested, they succeeded in getting the film kicked out of theaters.
Ridiculous.

christmas evil was made in 1980 four years earlier..... and Tales From the Crypt was 1971 13 years before, and the comic on which it was based was from the 50's.
This is why i cant understand it - it certainly wasn't the first.

You're right. The parents that were doing all the protesting obviously never heard of the earlier films.
I'm not sure if Xmas evil was released in theaters.
