I can see why it is banned in many countries.
The gore looks like it is real, and the animal killings are disturbing.
That said, it is a very powerful film, and a must-see for those with strong stomachs.
It shows how savage humanity still is.

Definitely not for everyone..just looks too real for me though..

I've been putting seeing this one off for ages, but I want to watch it eventually since so many people say it's good. I think I can handle it...

Yes that is true from my understanding. A monkey, a turtle, and a snake, although I'm just going by what I've heard as I haven't seen it myself.

CT is correct. They are all real.
I was a little disturbed by it, but that was the intended effect of the movie.
The FX work is hyperrealistic in this, so much so they filmmakers were nearly put on trial for the "deaths" of the actors.
It is not a film you just pop in when you need something to watch.

the realism of the gore can be attributed to that all organs in the film were real pig organs

LOL. I'm scared of this movie.
I bought it at the Fango convention back in June. It took me until the beginning of August to pop it in my DVD player only to find out that I would need a region free DVD player to watch it.
I'm pretty sure though that my PC (correct me if I am wrong) will play both.
However, I haven't had the nerve to try watching it again!
I figure if I made it through Nekromantik I can make it through this....but Im still leery...

It was slightly disturbed when I finished watching it, but to me, that means it was effective.

AMEN ZJ!
Couldn't agree more!
Especially since (I feel) it takes a lot to "disturb me" considering all the stuff I've seen up to this point!

I watched this movie over Labor Day weekend.
The animal killings ARE disturbing.....as for the rest of the film all I can say is that I thought it was pretty brilliant.
It's a very strong film with a very powerful message.....

I would totally watch it and prolly love it if not for the animal killings.I just cant pay money to watch that stuff happen. I dont even like what they do in Fear Factor, Im just very sensitive to all living things is all.

I just popped it in again to watch the Last Road To Hell footage. It has around 10 seconds of real executions inserted back in.

www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/8124If you thought remaking Faces of Death was odd, here's one that's sure to make your eye twitch -- Relevant Entertainment has acquired rights to and will remake the 1980 cult horror film Cannibal Holocaust. Whether or not this changes Italian helmer Ruggero Deodato's plans to helm a sequel to his own film is yet to be seen. Read on for the skinny. Variety reports: Relevant Entertainment has acquired rights to and will remake the 1980 cult horror film "Cannibal Holocaust." It's aiming for a summer start. Relevant partner Michael Menchel and associate Steve Whitney will produce. The project is fully financed by Keith Previte of Scorched Earth Entertainment and Catherine Williams, who also will serve as producers. Paul Mason, Jordan Rush and Larry Joackim will exec produce. The original, directed by Italian helmer Ruggero Deodato, has been banned in dozens of countries due to its gore and violence. Pic centers on a professor traveling to South America to find out what happened to a film crew that disappeared while shooting a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes. He eventually discovers the remains of the crew and several reels of undeveloped film, which show the disastrous consequences of the crew's decision to provoke the natives. Deodato shot the pic in documentary style and was jailed briefly after the Italian premiere until he could prove the actors were unharmed. Whitney, who spent six months securing the rights, previously partnered with Previte for the 2005 remake of "The Amityville Horror." Whitney and Previte also exec produced "Borderland" for Lionsgate. Relevant's in pre-production on "Haunting in Connecticut" for Gold Circle/Lionsgate and is developing "The Tortoise and the Hippo" for Walden Media and "Pledged" for Paramount.

Love this film. Brilliant. I have watched it atleast four times now. This remake is a bad idea.

There is no way to remake it properly given that everything would have to be simulated.

The remake won't be as hardcore as the original
And a lot of CGI will probably be involved
With less rape scenes

It's good they are remaking it. Now maybe they'll make a version I'll find worthy of watching. Like others have said they wouldn't be able to have the real animal deaths. So that's a BIG plus in my book.
