I just watched the uncut version and I have to say, this is the only movie that made me close my eyes due to the violence. I heard that they killed the animals like the monkey, pig, and turtle. But even so, I like the movie. The new Cannibal film will be interesting. What is everybody's thought on the classic that has been banned in 50 countries?

Definitely not for everyone. The animal death scenes were a little extreme but compared to some of the things you see on discovery channel, not that bad.Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox are 2 of the best jungle man eater films ever created in my opinion.Holocaust is worth at least one viewing for the average fan,a must buy for hardcore horror collectors.

This film appears to be so real even though the actors were never harmed (Excluding animals). The FX guys did a terrific job making it seem like a doc.

A bicycle seat was attached to the end of an iron pole, which the actress sat on. She then held a short length of balsa wood in her mouth and looked up, giving the appearance of impalement. Here is the poster in my DVD signed by Deodato. Here is my other autograph:

Awesome Jeremy,i never knew that. They really did an outstanding job with the illusion.I really enjoyed watching Deodato's films.Too bad his Cannibal Holocaust 2 idea was canned.

I'll definitely agree that Cannibal Holocaust isn't for everybody. In my mind, it's truly a landmark film though, there will never be anything like it again. And that score...absolutely brilliant.

I could have sworn there was already a topic for this...
Anyway, Cannibal Holocaust. What can I say?
I've seen the film twice. Once to see it, and a second to confirm what I had watched. I will admit being slightly disappointed, after all the hype and message board remarks (not here, just everywhere in general), the film was bittersweet. Yes it was impressively brutal, but it had so much expectation associated with it, it could never live up to that. To me, this may hurt initial viewings and respect for the film, as most people will purposely bash and degrade a film, especially if it is considered the scariest or most brutal; I can recall people slamming the Texas Chainsaw Massacre for those very reasons, it gives the films a bad reputation.
Personally, this is never a film I'd watch casually. I do not own it but probably will purchase it on DVD, just to say I have it.

I was the same way the first time I saw the original TCM. I was like is this it? It was only after the second time I saw it that I began to appreciate what a great piece of horror history it is. The first time I kept waiting and waiting for the ultimate horror experience that never came and I was disappointed in the end, now its one of my all time favorites.

Yes, Riz Ortolani did a great job with the music, with some very somber music really getting the brutality of the scenes across.

The problem I had with Cannibal Holocaust it that it used the killing of animals to shock, rather to send a statement or some sort of social statement. That's not only uncool, but it's really lame. There's a lot of great to the movie, but also a lot of lame and for me it's a marginal film.
