Coming to DVD September 11, is the uncut version of the '81 slasher film The Burning. The movie will be presented in a remastered hi-def widescreen transfer with all of Tom Savini’s gory FX intact, accompanied by commentary by director Tony Maylam and a featurette including a Savini interview and behind-the-scenes footage of his gory handiwork. Other than the CLAD website news..this is the 2nd bloodiest best news i heard this week! Is xmas early this year or what.. Bloody Fantastic!

The Burning should be in any Friday the 13th fan's collection. It's amazing how similar Friday the 13th Part 2 and The Burning are to each other. What's even crazier is how Tom Savini turned down the money and notoriety of working for Friday the 13th Part 2 to make The Burning. Without his gore, the film wouldn't have nearly as much influence as it has on the horror industry today. I could watch the two films over and over consecutively until the day I die.

I have a great love for The Burning and I've watched it 3 or 4 times since that DVD release last year. It is easily a top 5 slasher of the 80's, probably more like top 3 for me personally. It has pretty much all the key elements for a truly great slasher and the raft scene truly delivers.

I saw THE BURNING for the first time a few months ago on IFC uncut. It was a double feature with MADMAN (Madman Mars!). I liked THE BURNING better, but MADMAN had its moments.

I remember when IFC showed those two back to back. I already owned The Burning at that point, so I was more focused on Madman.
Madman is awesome, but I agree that The Burning is superior.

I think The Burning blows Madman away personally. I do like Madman, and like jlaw said it had it's moments, but The Burning is truly great.
I don't like the way Madman Marz looked personally and they never explained why he looked that way either. But I still enjoy it for what it is.

Definitely blows Madman away. Blows most slashers away.

THE BURNING will air on IFC tonight. THE EVIL DEAD is on right now before it.

Definitely blows Madman away. Blows most slashers away. I'm curious to know where you rank Slaughter High.
