Has anyone seen YOU BETTER WATCH OUT (also known as CHRISTMAS EVIL)? I watched this movie on FearNet. It is a psychological thriller, and was apparently popular at drive-ins in 1980 when it was released. Also, it is said to be John Waters' favorite Christmas movie.
It is an independent movie about a man who is obsessed with Christmas and being Santa Claus. I liked it because I actually laughed at some things, that were probably supposed to be taken seriously, but it was hilarious seeing this grown man have Christmas decorations up (probably year-round), take special care in sewing his Santa suit, drive a van with a sleigh painted on the side and while driving it he shouted, “Go Rudolph, Prancer, Comet,” etc., and to top it off, work at a toy factory. He killed a few people and decided which kids had been naughty or nice. He did not kill any children. Instead he gave them presents. But when adults made him angry, he killed them. This might sound crazy to you, but it was a fun movie to watch, and apparently is a cult classic.

Since I have Fearnet, I'll probably watch it within the next couple of days and then post my thoughts on it.

Christmas Evil was ok to me, it's probably my least favorite Christmas-themed horror movie though. I'll take Black Christmas or Silent Night, Deadly Night any day.

I like Christmas Evil. The best part though is the way it ended. Awesome!

The ending was so out there I had to pinch myself to make sure I hadn't fallen asleep and was dreaming!

I love endings like that. Either where everyone dies or the thing we thought was a lie turns out to be the truth. Those endings are right up my alley.
Anyone seen Frailty BTW?

Frality's a great one of those films, its been a while since I've seen it but I can remember the ending and it was great a total fake-out.

Good flick and it sees some usual play time during the holidays for me. Not my favorite Christmas themed horror, but it is always worthwhile.

I own this oddly. It's on a Platinum DVD thing I got in Circuit City way back when. Its a pure VHS rip as i can clearly tell.
It's not AS good as Black Christmas OR Silent Night Deadly Night. BUT its a pretty good psychological low budget terror for Christmas. That guy really freaks me out stalking children the way he did. Not so much a pedofile but really obsessed with them being good and bad. Or Naughty and Nice list.
It's on youtube for those who want to watch! Give it a look! It might get taken down so might want to watch if you haven't seen before it does! I am certain you won't find it anywhere for a cheap price.

I haven't watched it in a few years, maybe I need to give it another chance.

Please do! It's not as good as the prior two but I think its always worth a watch based on how freaky this guy is.

Not a fan of low budget goodness are we Abraxis? This was suppose to be a psychological thriller with focus on that guy (like with the movie Maniac) instead of a bloody slasher

I can deal with that. SNDN is better made came out a few years later. I Just think Christmas evil made the guy more crazier than what the boy who got scarred from SNDN did, despite the latter being a better made movie

I guess its just a personal preference on that one. I'm not overly harsh on atmospheric movies unless I just plain can't see it visually.
I have a list of movies I need to check out and I'll post a thread for them. If you want some amusing Christmas horror, check out "And all through the Night" that episode from Tales from the Crypt TV series ;D

Enjoyable little flick. The film is actually quite serious if you eliminate most of the cheesy scenes, you watch the main character basically spiral into a slow psychotic madness. If you look at it it's much like a Christmas version of Maniac which came out the same year 1980. Anyways I love the ending that scene on its own is classic.
