Thanks.
It was a nice introduction to the film for sure, and nine movies for six bucks isn't bad.

I know what you mean with those type of collections if you find one or two films in them that you like and are worth re-viewing than the whole thing is worth it at those prices.

That is why I get apprehensive about some horror movies being released on Blu-Ray.
Carpenter's Halloween is fine, but Pieces thrives on that grainy look, and seeing it blown up in a format that shows every detail just doesn't seem right.

I use to have Carpenter's Halloween on Blu-ray. But i sold it because it looked to glossy and high res for me. I love the original look better. So i just stick with my dvd versions of the film.

For me the look of a film is a big part of the atmosphere of the whole experience and when they change a classic like Halloween and give it such a modern look then it doesn't feel like the same movie in some ways to me.

For most other movies, I love seeing detail, but for gritty horror, I don't need to see the edges of prosthetic makeup effects due to the hi-res transfer.

Got this on Netflix and watched it for the first time last Sunday....
Ehhh.... let's just say I'd never want to see it again.
It barely held my interest - sound quality is atrocious. All characters look and act like shit - and the gore isn't anything to write home about.
There's just too many other good movies from the time period ...so for me ...this one just doesn't make the cut.
Decent nudity though.....

I've actually owned this DVD for a while. it was release by Diamond previously. I bought it at the mall I think a few years ago. Anyway, it's decent but not that big a deal. Even for the 80's it is merely good.

It certianly isn't high art, and the people who made it knew that and just had fun with it.

That's what I like about Pieces, it's just a fun movie. One I can watch over and over again.

I own the Grindhouse release and I got the Diamond release.
I watched the Grindhouse release. I must say I am very glad they put the same quality as the Vestron Video on it. I would be uber mad if they tried to "hi def" and tweek the quality to it. Now if only I could FIND the original Vestron Video that one of my online friends got for like 4 bucks I would be all set.
I'm just a big geek on the way things look. Many horror movies LOOK BETTER not LOOKING BETTER. And that is what a lot of these blue ray and releases now try to catch and I find it very disheartening.
