This actually takes place three months before the events of the first film. www.imdb.com/news/ni5081890/It has already broke the record for midnight earnings by an R-rated film with a $6.3 million haul. Keep in mind that it only cost $2.75 million to make, so it looks like they have another money maker on their hands.

Paramount has also wanted to do more low budget horror movies like they did back in the day since this kinda shows low budget can overceed in the box office.
Some say this is better than the first. Has great reviews and in the 80% percentile on RT so far.
Wonder how bad Saw 3D will do at the box office. It's been declining for a few years.

Yeah, I am surprised at how well it is being received.
Saw 3D will get a boost from higher ticket sales, so it is pretty much guaranteed to do better then Saw 6.

20 million in one day wowza. Looks like this will NOT be a Blair Witch kinda thing where the first got buzz then the second one flopped. May be a turn around. Most successful sequelized horror franchise Paramount has had since it had Friday the 13th in the 80s!

People seem to have a seething hatrid for this series just as I have seen for the Saw series.
Of course at this rate I think Paranormal Activity franchise may de throne Saw's guiness record in a fast hurry
The first movie had a budget of 15,000 and this one had 3 million. Heard it has no CGI and no lound zinger jump scares. Isn't that a horror persons dream come true?? Or is it because teens like it or something?
It's made 20 million in one day so far. I may check out the original just for the sake of it online.

I really want to see this one too. I missed the first one when it was in the theatre and only saw it on dvd a few months ago for the first time. Hopefully I get a chance to catch it in the theatre.

Thoughts on the original?

It was surprisingly good. I mean it goes for a more creepy and suspensful experience(except for the end) than an all out scare factor if you know what I mean. The boyfriend is majorly annoying and irritating though. Kind of makes you wonder what goes on in your house when your sleeping.

Very good movie.Like the first film, you have to see this in theaters to feel the full effect. PA2 really explains a lot of questions left unanswered in the first movie.I personally love both films.
PA2 made me feel uneasy while watching and that is a very good thing for a horror fan like me.What really happens in our homes when we are not looking? That's the general idea in both Paranormal activity films and it works.
Can't wait to pick this up on blu-ray. Looking forward to PA3.

My friend told me it was the only movie he has ever seen that genuinely frightened him. He slept with his lights on lol.
From that comment, I really want to see this. I never saw the first one, but reviews say they aren't very similar other than the fact that it's Blair Witch-esque.

41.5 million as of Saturday, thats pretty darn good. That blows out Machete, My Soul to Take and anything else I can think of horror wise this year. I wonder what the final gross will be.
I'll likely check this out in November some time. So far this one has a 5.7 on IMDB
