I freaking love this film. I think the idea was that it was suppose to have that over the top dark humour that it has. It gets a 10/10 for me. I loved it, what are your thoughts?

Can a movie be both underrated and overrated?

I like it ok. It's such the complete opposite of the first film, it's a bit jarring, but it' enjoyable to watch. What I meant by the overrated and underrated comment is that it seems like one of those movies that was underrated and now a hell of lot of people seem to respect it, ala Halloween III.

I found the original Media release of this movie from the 80s recently for 99 cents. Watched it for the second time and still hated it. Such a HUGE departure and almost a PARODY of the first movie makes it almost unbearable to watch. Just DAMN >_>

I thinks its a pretty enjoyable watch as long as you don't take it seriously. I mean its nothing compared to the original but its more of a campy sequel that for is good for an occasional watch.

I'm sorry dear friend Leatherface I wouldn't have had a problem if this was a parody type series but since it was NOT this movie made it jump the shark in ways that pissed me off way too much. TCM 3 attempted some redemption but came off too slasher and the 4th one let's not go there. You don't put a parady as your sequel to a classic movie Just OH HELL NO here. That would be like Friday the 13th part II being a parody. Nobody would accept that. My standards are HIGHER on movies that are perfect having a sequel after them and this does not make my cut. Just damn >_> It could have been so much more. I would have accepted even mere mediocre to the original but parody just no. This is not the 90s yet >_>

The idea of it was that it was suppose to be humourous but weird at the same time. The original did have some dark humour here and there this one just expanded on it. It was suppose to be weird and funny. I love it lol

I really like it, as it doesn't take itself too seriously. That said, I wouldn't call it overrated either.

Me either. When I saw it at first I thought it was the weirdest, dumbest and stupidest thing I have ever seen. But in a way it's predecessor was like that too. This just exagerrated the weirdness and campyness of the original which did have atleast one or two campy moments.

To me, that is the best way to murder a franchise after making a second sequel a parody. This is why TCM franchise has no flow at all. It's really sad >_> And every single Leatherface in each movie is DIFFERENT as well so nothing jibes or flows together at all. At least the Friday the 13th movies didn't start getting messed up until much later on

Rebel the issue deals with the fact that virturally each film was made bya different company. Companies like Canon ( TCM 2) and New Line ( TCM 3) were trying to make a series when it could have never worked due to the nature of the first film. Sequalizing a film like TCM is just wrong. Imagine someone making a sequel to Carrie. It wouldn't work. So that's why I'm easier on 2 as opposed to 3 and 4 because it didn't try to take itself seriously and was more or less making fun of the fact it was a sequel.

Continuity doesn`t exist in the TCM franchise, if it can even be called that. They are all direct sequels to the original.

Exactly. Though 4 was the one that tried to be multiple things. It meant to be a sequel to 2, then a sequel to 3, then a remake/reboot and became the jumbled mess we all know it as now.

Yeah the continuity is pretty much absent in the TCM series. The best shot at coninuity the series has is with the remake and the prequel, I mean no matter what you think of those two movies, at least they tried to make a logical storyline with returning characters and places.

I absolutely love TCM 2. Easily the best one outside the original. It was as different and original for the 80's as the original was for the 70's. TCM is my second favorite franchise. Sure they don't follow any continuity after 2. But I love the whole cannibal clan thing. The house full of Ed Gein's is just great. I even liked parts of TCM TNG. If LF hadn't been taken too far with the whole cross dressing thing and they hadn't done the whole Illuminati thing it could have ended up a decent movie. I'm looking forward to TCM 3D. It has a bunch of great people from the past movies in cameo's and will even have Bill Moseley stepping in to play Drayton!!!
