Pretty pathetic. Even more pathetic is the fact they are planning on making the upcoming remake PG13. You don't make a movie based on a Clive Barker story into a PG13 "family friendly" joke.

Hellraiser after Hellworld is dead for me But yeah Bloody Disgusting put an interview up with the guy making this. He said it was finished in . . . two weeks time. He says why he thinks Bradley declined and what the frig is going on. I still think this is going to be horrid vomitting whoredom Interview

It is another DTV sequel that was shot quickly for around $300,000, apparently so that they kept the rights to the franchise.
Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to work on a remake.

That's awful, I mean its just not Pinhead. I won't be seeing it either, I mean I haven't seen any of them after the third so I definetly won't be making an exception.

I wish Dimension would just get rid of the rights already. Doug Bradley bashes them to death so he is probably not on their top list of people to have in their movies.

It is the same as Freddy being replaced.
We knew it was going to happen some day.

The first review for this movie is in. It was screened by a test audience. This does NOT look good. I know everybody here "hates" all the Direct to Video movies and I am the sold defender. I hope when we get to see this you will all change your minds ;D By the way this reviewer said it looks like it was shot with a 100 dollar Target camera after they got done with the "shaky cam" First Review

It got a lone screening in LA (likely due to contractual demands) and someone on another board was there. He said it was terrible and the replacement Pinhead sucked, going as far as to call him "faux-Pinhead." All reviews are bad so far, and not just because it is a DTV movie. It is just a horrible movie overall. Of course, Rebel will probably call it the best movie ever.

Nah I doubt that highly My favorite Direct to Video sequel is Hellraiser Inferno because the camera work is spot on and the personal hell in the mind is superb We already saw what Pinhead looks like with that picture they showed. He looks like somebody DRESSING UP to be Pinhead instead of actually being the character. No wonder Doug Bradley turned down this role! It was only made to retain the rights so they can do the remake. The duo that did Jason X and My Bloody Valentine remake is doing this "reboot". but no word if Bradley is signing on >_>

Plus, Lussier and Farmer didn't exactly make a big splash with Drive Angry.

Bradley didn't "pass the torch" he just wouldn't agree to it because he thought the screenplay was a massive pile of donkey feces.

Because he didn't think they were crap mister Doug Bradley : "I'm still enjoying doing the movies, still having fun doing them, still finding fresh territory to explore myself. And I always try to make sure those lines of communication are well and truly open with the director. The last thing I would want would be any feeling from the director that I'm the guy who does Pinhead, and I know everything about it and therefore I can't be directed. I always go to the director and say, 'Look, I do know what I'm doing here but any new thoughts or ideas or anything you feel is amiss or something new we could throw in, I'm fully open to suggestions.' "It also helped with Parts 7 and 8 that they were again directed by Rick Bota, who directed Hellseeker, Part 6. I got on very, very well with him, so it was great to have the chance to go back and work with someone who I knew got [it] and that I'd worked with previously. It's actually the first time in the whole series that I worked with the same director twice, so that was certainly an advantage. If there are going to be any more - and who knows at this stage - I have no barriers to going there again."

I highly doubt that the suits care how bad it is recieved, whether it be critical or financial, as long as they can keep the rights and do the remake.

Oh I know they don't care. Deader and Hellworld had a budget of 4 or 5 million. Revelations Budget? Try 300,000 I kid you not. The First Hellraiser had 1 million for God' sake! And they were forced to do it in 2 weeks so I am seriously going to be scared when I watch this. Then I will make Abraxis join the Hellworld appreciation Group soon after ;D

Factors like time and money don't necessarily guarantee how good or bad a movie is.
Halloween was made cheaply and quickly and is a classic, while this has the same factors going for it and sucks. The same can be said about big budget movies that take months to make, as some are very good (ie. Inception) and others are a mess (ie. Transformers 2).
Even a factor like how much the filmmaker cared about the movie can be nullified. Ed Wood comes to mind, as he actually thought he was making good movies.
