As we all know, Jigsaw is a fairly new horror character. Now I am referring to John Kramer and not the others. So my question is, does Jigsaw deserve to be up there with Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, Leatherface, Chucky, Norman Bates, Candyman, Pinhead, Tall Man, Ghostface ect. Or is heforgettable like The Fisherman or The Creeper ( Jeeper's Creepers.) what do you guys think?

He helped light up the horror genre in the 2000s when franchise horror seemed to be dead and onlly crap was produced. He is smart and it adds something new to that particular sub genre just as the ones you listed helped with their respective sub genres. . . . just as long as we don't beat the dead horse to death. I wonder when Lionsgate will send John Kramer to space or have him be Thorn cursed? ;D

Rebel is right. The Saw franchise is the highest grossing in the horror genre, which puts it up there with F13 and NOES. It might not have a 30 year history, but it doesn't have to given how successful it was.
Tobin Bell is now a name actor thanks to how big the franchise became.

I love Tobin. He was very effective as a dying killer. Though Saw to me, should have stopped after three.

You have apoint, it's just to me, the Creeper doesn't qualify like the others. He didn't influence the genre and several other films. Saw for instance, agve us films like Hostel and High tension and films such as that, Friday the 13th gave us the basic slasher genre and so on and so forth. JC didn't really do that, hence why he to me anyway, don't qualify.

Any movie that can spawn a sub genre or folks wanting to make imitations deserves an award in horror. It should have stopped at 3. V really bad and the final chapter just like seemingly every long franchise ENDED BAD.
As far as gross, it is high grossing even though if you factor ticket prices from way back when would be a fairer comparison.
