We know that Freddy and Jason do, but what about Michael Myers, Leatherface, Chucky ect? Do they all exsist in the same world?

Not until they make another pairing type movie. Even then, just because they make a one off like Freddy vs. Jason, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to take it as canon.

Well yes but each live in different universes, when people say the world of fiction they are making a broad generalization. If that is the answer then we should see Leatherface hanging with Telletubbies or Jason playing tag with Nightcrawler from X-Men. In the modern horror genre pre remakes, I wonder if they all exsist in the same world? Is Haddonfield in the same universe as Elm Street? Is Crystal Lake in the same world as Haddonfield? So on and so forth.

I've never really thought about it, but I would have to say that yes they all exist in the same world. I mean its perfectly 'reasonable', in terms of movie land for them to exist in the same world since they all kind of have their own stomping grounds so to speak. Each series is in a separate town and there is never a point in any of the horror series franchises where one killer enters another killer's territory so to speak. Jason has Crystal Lake, Freddy has Springwood, Michael has Haddonenfield and Chucky has Chicago. The only exception is FVJ and that only happens through Freddy's manipulation. That's just my take on things.

I like to think that they exist but have their own turf.

Well, depends on the person's view point. For me, the horror world is filled with different surprises and experiences. There is a crystal lake where a young boy drowned, there is an Elm street,In the empty void of space there are aliens with acid for blood, face huggers, predators lurking for another hunt.Back on earth there are people looking for new pleasures with the Lament configuration, not realizing the consequences of opening the box, having their flesh torn apart by the cenobites of leviathan's hell.On Halloween night, you have to keep a watchful eye over your shoulder for Michael Myers and his lust for spilling his siblings blood.Texas is not safe either, with Leatherface and his cannibalistic family running around looking for more human meat to eat.Meanwhile deep in the woods,a group of teens decide to read the ancient words found in the book of the dead, summoning demons that want to take their souls.Zombies crawling out of graves while Pazuzu possesses a young girl and tells a priest that his mother sucks cocks in hell...and much much more.
Thats the world of horror for me,all in perfect harmony coexisting side by side in the macabre.

If they all did coexist it'd make the characters that doubt the warnings or legends in the films look like absolute morons. Plus you'd think everyone would end up being suicidal home bodies due to how dangerous it is in the world. ;D There would literally be no safe places.

According to Beyond the Mask: Leslie Vernon they all take place in the same world. Yea I was gonna say that and I HATE that stuff! it's so cheesy when other movies try to act like theyre real. It takes the escapism out of the movie experience.

It takes the escapism out of the movie experience. Yeah it is pretty cheesy. Wasn't there something like that in Bride of Chucky or something too..? Plus if you think about it don't most slasher series imply that their killer is the most prolific killer of all time? This makes it less likely that they exist in the same universe because they can't all be.

I believe that New Line Cinema's big three could take place in the same world. They all are in different parts of the country (Though Freddy and Jason do meet). Aliens and Predators take place in the same world in my mind as well. However, I think Michael Myers is all by himself as well as Pinhead and Jigsaw.
