Wasei Kingu Kongu was 1933 Japanese Black and White silent film.It was based off the 1933 Stop Motion film King Kong.It is unforunately lost due to the US atomic bombing in 1945 A amazing fact is that this would be considered the first Japanese Monster movie not Gojira (Godzilla) predating it by 21 yrs or so. Only known picture from the film Edo ni Arawareta Kingu Kongu (King Kong Appears in Edo) was released in Japan 1938 predating Gojira by 16yrs and in this film King Kong attacks medieval Edo, weird right ? It either disappeared due to negligence or was destroyed during the bombings of Japan. Only known picture of the film

I've heard of both. Being a pretty big fan of daikaiju eiga I've always wished they'd survived. They'd be fascinating to see. The whole giant monster film landscape may have been drastically different. King Kong has always been popular in Japan. And was a pretty big influence on the creation of Gojira. If these still survived Gojira could have been a completely different monster.
