I feel the same way. I always thought he was trying to go that extra mile and prove his love for those children, especially after almost killing them.Thats how I saw it anyway. i agree i loved the remake more lol peace

It was ok, but can someone explain the ending to me? I'm talking about the little girl (Jodi?) who is a ghost to begin with and gets pulled through the floor. I thought that was lame. Good movie overall though.

Good movie overall though. They were giving us more story into the actual ghosts in the house. I liked it, the reason she was pulled under is because earlier in the movie the daughter mentions how Jodi said I bad man who hurts her was in the house. So they showed us a little bit of that at the end of the movie.

Yes the way i see it Jodi was a victim and thats why she wanted the daughter to kill herself so she would join her there, the house was obviously run by evil spirits namely Ketcham. They were insinuating that Jodi was only bad to bad people like the babysitter despite the fact that she wanted the daughter to kill herself.I think cuz the house was evacuated and the spirits failed, that was the end of Jodi to escape ketchams clutches or something like that.

I just bought this on DVD, so I won't finish reading this whole thread until after I watch it and have my own opinion.
Can't wait though, loved the original.

Just watched this and loved it!! Thought it was way better then the original. To add my two cents about Jodi, she wanted Chelsea to kill herself so that she would have a play mate forever and ever (like Chelsea said). She was stuck in the house with "the bad man". I don't think it was to escape Ketcham's clutches, he was already working on the step father anyway.....it would only be a matter of time before the whole family was murdered, 28 days actually. I just think she was afraid that the mother would eventually get her out of that house and by Chelsea killing herself, it would ensure her stay there with Jodi.
That's my opinion anyway........

I thought this was an amazing remake and im not really a fan of remakes. The extras on the dvd are worth watching as well if ya rent it out... Great movie.. I have to say that I didnt like the remake that much, its just the story seemed more hard to believe then the original, the effects were great, but nothing really scared me, also the original got me thinking and I went to buy the book, but couldnt find the book, I also liked the dog in the original, I hate seeing dogs get killed.

Not a bad remake at all, though I'll still take the original anyday.

I didn't realize until today that they made more than three Amityville Horror movies plus the remake.

The remake was great though it didn't follow the real story to well it was still good. I thought the ending was great, one of the few remakes I actually like.
