Whoa that's a crazy turn of events. I'm interested to hear more going forward.

He's been wanting to do this for a couple of years now, hopefully it happens.

As much as I'd like to see this happen I don't know if the studio would go for it. It would be going back to the original timeline. I'm guessing the studio might want to wait to see how Texas Chainsaw 3D does before making a decision. If they see the return to the old TCM franchise is profitable it might make them think doing it for Friday the 13th is feasible. I would definitely enjoy seeing this idea happen. As much as I enjoyed the remake and would like to see a sequel to it, seeing Feldman return and play Tommy Jarvis again would be even better. Well, if it's written properly that is. ;D

He's stated in a few interviews taht he always wanted to do a Friday The 13th H20 in the sense that it picks up from 4, ignoring all the others and Jason comes back for a final showdown, much like Halloween h20. I kinda dig that idea.

Hopefully it happens. I'd even settle for it being a direct to dvd film.

It has my interest. As Kyle said, if TCM 3D is a moderate financial success, the studio might actually give it a second thought.

I have interest in seeing this. I just wish they wouldn't wait so long to do this sort of thing.

Hopefully it happens. I'd even settle for it being a direct to dvd film. I'm with you Kyle. It would probably be a better film for the true fans if it was direct to dvd. If it's studio released, they're going to try to please your average movie goer. We've talked about this before, I'd rather see the franchise go to dvd than to just not get anymore films. Both the Hellraiser and Children of the Corn franchises went to dvd, and I think both contain some quality films. I might be in the minority in thinking that though. ;D

Even if went straight to video, it would still be mainly aimed at the general audience, just like the upcoming Child's Play DTV film.
As much as I would love to see a new film, I really think that they shouldn't skip the theater.

I know! They could do a sequel to the remake for the big screen and do this film direct to DVD. If they do both they can focus on being more mainstream withe the remake sequel and be more fan centric with a direct to dvd sequel set in the original timeline. Of course at this point I'd settle for "Jason does Dallas". ;D I mean seriously, it's ridiculous how long it's taking for a new Friday the 13th film.

When PD is involved with a remake, I expect a franchise to stall. Sure, it might make some money and get half decent reviews, but they are unable to create a long term plan.

I wouldn't mind this. But Warner Bros I hate in general so I don't know how that would pan out. I wish Paramount still had it. They may have not been proud of it but they had the better movies

Heck yes. The Paramount "Friday the 13th" films were much better than the Newline "Jason" films. I don't know if anyone can make a truly great Friday the 13th again. I'd like if they could. But I think people don't think it matters. We need people in the entertainment industry who are die hard fans to be the ones involved in Friday the 13th's future. People who respect the legacy and history. That's the only way the franchise can hope to put out a great film again. But other than the occasional news snippet saying that they hope to make another one it doesn't seem like anyone is truly interested in actually making another one. It's kind of sad really.

So long as it isn't called Part XIII, I'm fine. It doesn't make sense to call it that... unless the film intends to take on a campy nature, then I guess I could live with. I'd hate to explain to people why the films go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, Goes to Hell, X, Freddy vs. Jason, Remake, and then that one. If anything, it should be called Part 11, possibly 12 if we accept Freddy vs. Jason as a film entry.
That said, I'm down for an old school Friday the 13th film. Aside from Jason X, Freddy vs. Jason, and the remake, I've never seen an actual Friday the 13th film in theaters.

I don't think the casual fans can. I mean other than making fan films. But I know there are people actually in the film industry who are real Friday the 13th fans. In fact I know of one who is a die hard Friday the 13th fan. Adam Green. If the studios would let someone like him make the next Friday the 13th I have no doubt it would end up being a great Friday the 13th. I wish there was a way to convince them to let someone like Green have a go at making a real Friday the 13th.
