Wait...wasn't Grandpa way uglier and possibly near dead in the original?

Well, the actor reprising the role is 30 years older. Because of that his skin isn't as tight and he's probably put on a fair amount of weight. So even if they put the exact same makeup on him the end result would look different.

True, he kinda looks like The Tall Man

;D He does resemble him a bit. Of course it's kind of hard to tell what he really looks like due to him being in the background. I hope we get a good closeup of him in the film.

Grandpa would be the oldest person in the world in that case.

He was already supposed to be over 100 in the first film. If you added the actors real age to the equation then yeah Grandpa would be a record holder for sure. ;D

He reminds me of Gunnar quite a bit. I think they made a great choice when they cast Dan.

Here are 2 more TV spots. I love the thick skin one.

I admit I was hard on it from the first trailer, but over the last few tv spots and photos I have seen it's really growing on me. The interior of the Sawyer house in the recent pictures with Bill Moseley looked great they really reminded me of the inside look of the original house from '74.

The original trailer wasn't bad. But it wasn't great. It should have been more like the TV spots in tone. Which BTW have only been getting better. They've been showing more of a connection to the original. I was thrilled we were even getting another TCM film, no matter what it was about. Because TCM is my second favorite horror franchise. So seeing a new one, especially one revisiting the Sawyer version was great news to me. Over the last year plus as more details have been coming out I've been getting more and more excited. With each trailer, t.v. spot, behind the scenes interviews etc. I've gotten to the point I'm counting the days. I have a feeling this is going to be a very enjoyable entry in the franchise. Because like Marilyn said in her comments/interview if they went to so much trouble to get the Sawyer house so spot on then the new stuff is probably going to be great too. Also Gunnar said this is the closest he's seen any of the sequels get to the tone/feel of the original. I feel that January 4th is going to be a fun day for a lot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fans.
