No problem. I've been getting more and more psyched to see this. So it's no big deal to share a news story or video when I run across them. Though it seems not many other people on here are looking forward to it as much as I am. ;D I've read the script. Well, the last script that someone on the inside leaked. Though Dan Yeager claims it's not the script they used for shooting. I can tell the script is close, due to the footage and teasers released. Though I've seen differences too. Other than a few lines of dialogue that are cliched I liked it. Though I know there are some differences, if the film is as good as what I've read then this will probably be going into the top 3 films in the franchise. If not my new number 2 favorite right behind the original. I do see this upsetting some TCM fans the same way Halloween H20 upset some fans of the Halloween franchise. Because it definitely changes things. Those changes wont really bother me. 1. The movies this will replace are still there. So I can watch that continuity if I feel like it. 2. Since this is pulling an H20 I realize that the facts it's changing aren't the facts anymore. If I could handle the original facts I can handle the new. The changes aren't that drastic. I'm almost 100 percent sure you'll like it. You don't like Part 2 and this takes it's place in continuity. It's definitely a more direct sequel than Part 2 was storyline and feeling wise. In fact the original and this will feel as connected feeling and plot wise as the remake and prequel do to each other. Which will be a first for the original franchise. We all know those don't exactly link that well. ;D I've found out that this film will be having a showing the day before the regular opening at 10 p.m. I plan to see it then. This is the first film I'll be seeing in the theater since the Nightmare on Elm Street remake and the first time seeing one on opening day since the early Nineties. So yeah I'm looking forward to it a little. ;D

The biggest issue most Horror films have is, after the original, it's difficult to keep things as scary as they were. We've seen them, so it's a sense of familiarity. The only thing a studio can do is make their sequels become a formula of sorts, or add other elements, which is what the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 attempted to do with the black comedy. I don't mind black comedy, hell, even the original had some of it, but if it isn't balanced it can begin to slide drastically, much like the Elm Street series did.
I like the fact this movie is a second continuity to the series. I didn't much like 2, found 3 okay, and the Next Generation an entertainingly bad film. I look forward to this, but probably not as much as others here. I'd like to see more Horror series do well, because, as much as I may pine for the early days, something new is still something new, and with the new stuff comes a return and re-interest in the original series. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, while notoriously known, has definitely been buried under the other big names. This series and the success it has had since being remade will, hopefully, encourage folks to attempt the other brands as well. I'd like to see modern sequels to the Elm Street and Friday the 13th remakes, and this may be the best way of generating that motive.

But it seems that quality horror that is capable of starting a franchise is a thing of the past. Or so rare it might as well be.

Just think it was the wrong spirit for a franchise that started so strongly in a different direction. For example Friday the 13th 6's comedy would not be the greatest follow up to part 1 or 2.... Maybe if Part 2 was the 4th or 5th TCM I woulda liked it more. I am psyched for this. even though most critics predict a bomb. For moving to Jan alone... here is an interesting fact I came across while preparing for this retrospective. Here are some TCM Part 3 facts (original series) Originally slated for a November 3rd, 1989 release, the release date was soon pushed to January 12th of the following year. Same as Part 3 of the new series of TCM movies. History repeats itself.

In continuity this will be a part 2. I know people may be predicting a bomb due to being pushed to January. But bare minimum I think it will make it's production costs back with at least a small profit above that. I'm hoping does even better than that. I've read the script. It's not a bad story at all. I think if enough people actually see it without preconceived notions they'll probably end up liking it. But people tend to like being told what they think. If they read a bad review and then see the film they'll think it's bad. Same as if they see a good review. I think people need to learn to watch a film and form their own opinions. I am hopeful this will be good if not great. I'm prepared for it to be just meh. Bottom line they couldn't have done worse than TNG. If it's better than that I'll be happy. If there aren't many changes from the script I read to what was filmed this will likely be my new second favorite. I am psyched. But I'm also a realist. So I'm going to go in tentatively hoping for greatness. But not going to lose sleep if it's just good.

I can't believe I forgot to share that clip here. Total brainfart on my part. Thanks for sharing it.
In order from my favorite to least.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning are tied. Sometimes I like one more than the other. Right now I like The Beginning more. Next month it may be the remake. So like I said they're tied.
Leatherface Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 3
and finally dead last. Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Next Generation.

Here are a couple more interviews. This an article in memory of all the actors minor and major in the TCM franchise that have passed away. In honor of the new film. www.freddyinspace.com/2012/12/texas-chainsaw-massacre-in-memoriam.htmlI knew about most of them. It's a well written and researched article. Showing just how diverse the people who have taken part in this franchise are and were. I highly suggest TCM fans read it.

Another tv spot.
Is anyone else even interested in this? I'm not getting the impression that many people on the MB care about this film.
