They ever catch the real Phantom Killer? I don't believe they did. Their identity is still unknown.

I remember when it looked like The Burning would never get a R1 release and now a second one is coming out. It just seems to take a while for a distributor to get interested in these movies.

Are they working on a remake of this film? I've noticed some films get released or re-released when they are about to have a new film to latch merchandise onto.

" It just seems to take a while for a distributor to get interested in these movies." The process of going about it, the steps, the authorization needed is just dawg gon ridiculous. Some of the films out their that do need a transfer & will exceed in the market just don't get the proper treatment and release time. A Re-make of this film was be awesome.

A while back I know that the guys at Pit of Horror were trying to get a remake done of it; them directing it. That never came to fruition. I am sure one will happen.

I'm surprised it didn't already happen during the initial glut of remakes during the first decade of the 2000's. It wouldn't cost that much, and due to how it's so unknown to the masses bitching about it being a remake would be minimal. Then again, since it isn't very well known, it doesn't have a large built in audience to guarantee a decent return. So they might think it not worth the risk to do.

A remake for this could do wonders. It's such a simple concept, and folks seem to like these "based on true story" movies, especially if they're about people being killed.
I've only seen this film once, and that was A LONG TIME AGO, back when I was a very young kid. I'd love to own and watch this with a more adult perception.
Look what I found:
