Avatar came out today and James Cameron taunts that it will change filmmaking forever and I have to agree, This is the only 3-D film I know that goes the entire film and is not there to show off but to enhance the world. I recommend you see it in 3-D cause Jame's new film is amazing!

It really hasn't captured my interest. I might rent it on DVD some day but doesn't look as impressive as they are trying to build it up to be.

I thought that the fanboys was hyping it up but it still is amazing and should be seen in 3-D only. Honestly, it probably is James Cameron's 3rd or 4th best film.

I can't even name more than 4 of Cameron's films, haha.
But yeah, I'm hearing the special effects are amazing but the story is, at most, like a rehashed Fern Gully. Not sure how much truth is in that, but I'll get around to seeing this... eventually.

I just got back from seeing it in glorious 3D and it was amazing.
The story was basic, but how it was told was amazing.

I've heard a lot of hype about this as well "go see it you wont regret it!" Are they only saying this because of the "special affects"? From what yall are saying it's a ripoff story of something else or hardly any story at all. That, in itself, convinces me not to bother. Yes I am a spoiled sport

You are missing out on a great experience.
The acting was better then I expected, especially from Sam Worthington and Sigorney Weaver.
There is a story to it, but sometimes you don't need to convoluted the plot to get the point across.

For those who are judging based on its success and the 3D technology, at least watch it in 3D.

You should watch it in 3-D, that is where this excels. 3-D TV's are coming out this year and Blu-Ray supports 3-D so Avatar will be great to see at home

I'm excited to see it and planning on getting it on Blu Ray, but the Blu Ray coming out later this month makes no reference to 3D? Why not?

It will likely offer 2D and 3D viewing options.
I am getting the BD/DVD combo pack.

Fox said that there will be no 3-D blu ray for most likely the rest of the year. I am still getting the BR/DVD pack though.

So I take it the reg. DVD wouldn't be 3D either?
I hope they're delaying it because they're making it the best 3D home experience and not because they just wanna be greedy and make people buy it twice! Or perhaps it will only be available for those new 3D tvs?

I love Avatar! Unfortunately, I didn't get to see it at the theater. I have two versions. The visuals are stunning and I just can't get enough of Sam Worthington!

I saw it about a year ago. Decent flick. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It wasn't as good as it's box office success would suggest though.

Just curious, but what version do you watch the most? There are three, the theatrical, special edition and extended cut. I really like the extended version, which runs nearly three hours. Jayson likes it too.
