I agree this is lame. They are just throwing another pretty boy in the role and they are stuck in the same storyline again. None of these movies can just move forward already. Just like Superman... how many time are we supposed to watch him meet Louis lane? Or Hulk or BatMan. How long till we see BatMan turn into BatMan again? So lame...

its not very fun anymore going into a movie when you already know what's going to happen and that's how I feel about this spiderman movie, what's to get excited about?
at least this year the superhero movies have been something new and fresh, I've actually wanted to go to them

Lol, Louis.
I was pumped about them putting in Gwen Stacey as his love interest because I thought it made me privy to their line of thinking and I thought, hmm if they put in the very first girl Peter fell in love with (whom I've always preferred to MJ), maybe they're really serious about this reboot.
But the trailer is just plain meh. Maybe it's not horrible, but it just seems so uninspired. It has that teen angsty/brooding Twilight-ish vibe about it and I'm sorry, but so far, I can't get down with it.
You know, just because it might possibly tell his origin story more accurately and follow the comics closer doesn't make it automatically good...

I hate to be such a downer in this topic but damn.... I am just so disappointed in this and Capt America. That trailer looks like we have to devote a LOT of time in the origin story before we get to see something actually happen. Jesus Christ. What is Americas fascination about how comic people started out? Is no one interested in what happens down the line in these epic sagas that stood the test of time?
I am boycotting anymore reboots of comic heroes. Even my fav BatMan.... i dont mind of they replace Christian Bale one day.... but they better pick up and keep the franchise moving forward with the new actor. It is FAR too soon for things like this and completely unnecessary.

Um relax, and actually Captain America has a lot of action in it. It's called reinterpretation, it happens in the comics all the time. There's no need to be so angry towards a movie that hasn't been released yet. Doe sit look amazing? No. But it doesn't need to be bashed so heavily before it's release. The reason behind the reboots is because these films are ebing looked at ina very serious light and other directors/writers want in, however that actually doesn't happen as often a syou think. Take for instance Spider-Man. They were going to doa 4th one but Raimi argued with sony over the script and the cast no longer wanted to do it. So Sony, rather than leaving a large set of money in production Hell scrapped 4 and opted fora serious reboot. Same with Hulk, Hulk sucked, The Incredible Hulk was better in a sense that it wasn't as stupid ( not that great either) Batman begins was made because WB had cancelled Batman Triumphant and Begins came from several attempts at a new Bat film and they rebooted rather than continuing the Burton/Schumacher series. They did not reboot X-men but simply just mad e anew film. They are not Rebooting iron man. any time soon either. The reasonw hy Superman is getting rebooted is becuase lets face it Superman 2 was the last good Superman film and he like Batman is a very successufl property. The reason why they are rebooting batman is because Nolan wants to. He suggested after TDKR wa sgreenlit to not go in the direction the series did before and have eevrything mess up. He's attache dto the reboot as a Producer which is fine.

@demon
I will flip out if they actually reboot Batman when Nolan leaves. I know there's rumblings about it since everyone knows "Rises" is the end of his Batman trilogy, but there's no reason to start from scratch again. Take the awesomeness established by these films and move forward, I totally agree.

He's attache dto the reboot as a Producer which is fine. Um thanks for the logic lesson behind remakes. But no one was baffled on why it happens. I'm just sick to death of it. I can absolutely be angry about a movie that wasnt released yet. I was one of the only people who supported RZ Halloween before I actually saw it. Most everyone else was angry before it even came out. At least I have a good reason that is shared by jlaw at least.@demon I will flip out if they actually reboot Batman when Nolan leaves. I know there's rumblings about it since everyone knows "Rises" is the end of his Batman trilogy, but there's no reason to start from scratch again. Take the awesomeness established by these films and move forward, I totally agree. Dude exactly! They did not have to re-tell the story of Spiderman again just to establish it self apart from the first 3. If we keep rebooting shit then we will never get anywhere. Imagine if they rebooted Friday the 13th After the 4th one and again after the next 3rd one. We would have heard about the mom getting her head chopped off and him getting his mask 3 times already. The story would never go anywhere. You dont get a second chance in life. Once you make a decision in life you except the results and move forward. You dont dwell in the past. You dont get a time machine and re-do anything. If we did we'd be stuck in high school for eternity.
If they started the next trilogy of Spiderman with his outer space storyline it would have been just fine. But now we are stuck in reverse rehashing old shit and making no progress.
This isnt to say the quality of the film itself is not going to be great. I just dont wanna see what its about. I will wait for the 2nd one. Unless he goes against Doc Oc yet again

I'm not even a big comic reader, but there are tons of stories I'd love to see on screen. The rate they're going, we'll never see half of these by the year 3000. So the studios have a spat with Raimi, Maguire doesn't want to come back....whatever happened to just making another film? It's frustrating because there used to be some payoff. If things were being set up, hinted at, etc (like The Lizard), it used to be that there was a pretty good chance we'd see these things play out eventually. Now it's gotten to this point where it seems like something will get rebooted at any random time. It's annoying to follow something where you're now unsure if you'll even see it happen.
Like you said Demon, no progress....it's not a good place to be at right now. The Batman reboot was justified. We all know how Batman and Robin was horrendous. It was so bad it took almost a decade for Batman to come back on screen. That is justified. When you start rebooting stuff a mere four years after the last entry which wasn't even that bad (Yeah Spider-Man 3 wasn't on par with the first two, but come on, it wasn't that horrible), it has gotten out of hand.

Absolutely, you made a great point! We will never see anything come to life! If we gotta keep rebooting everytime the actor of the superhero changes we are never gonna get passed 3 movies! Thats ONE thing I respect about the original 80-90s Bat Man movies. They had 3 diff actors play him but just kept going like no one would notice! Not even the butler! Hahahaha
Now lets say Bale bails after this one. Are we actually going to get ANOTHER origin story of how Bruce's parents were shot and he decided to be Bat Man? You gotta be f---ing kidding me! They better forge ahead and just get to different villians and stuff. I will be very upset if this trend continues.

Now that I think about it yopu guys are right. I'd like to see a story like The Killing Joke on film or The Dark Knight returns or Batman year one and yeah at the rate it's goin that ain't happenin.

Yea man it's one step forward but 3 steps back. I wanna see MORE! Not the SAME! I wanna see all the villains Spiderman went against! Definitely Bat Man villains! I love them from the 60s show! At this rate we are never gonna make it to 90% of them! Because when Christian Bale gives this up were gonna get another Joker movie. Its just nuts man. Like I said, I am boycotting this out of principle!
On a side note I loved Thor and Iron Man. Looking extremely forward to those future installments.

Just came back from this! I give in a 9 out of 10! It was amazing and FAR different from that stupid 2002 movie. This was bad ass and focused very little on the origin.
It followed exactly as the comics were. Definitely a great movie.

LOL I just read this entire thread and you badmouthed the film pretty heavily hahaha. Guess you don't really know until you see it though.
Thanks for the review, I thought it looked kinda good and want to see it.

#24# I stand by hating origin movies when we already seen them 3 other times. Luckily the was waaaay different then that over the top POS 2002 SPiderman and had a completely different story.

Even though I loved the 02 film, this was kick ass! Much better than the original. My only gripe was Lizard, they just kinda made him into a green goblin type of villain as in he was just a mutated maniac. But I am GLAD that Spider-Man didn't have to save Gwen Stacy ( which is refreshing to see in a comic book movie for once.) Garfield was VASTLY superior than Maguire as Spider-Man, though I missed J Jonah Jameson lol. I hope JK simmons comes back for the role.

Great movie, I will give it a four out of five. The lizard was good but didn't really wow me. Even though Andrew did a great job I'm partial and prefer Tobey as Spider-Man.
