Oh and the Batman reboot will not focus on Batman's origin.

So you don't want to see another Batman ever again because the last three were oh so great? Batman is eventually going to be rebooted. And frankly I wouldn't mind if the reboot didn't focus on his origin. Nolan's Batman films were not that great, then again neither were the Burton films either. But saying that Batman should never have another series after the Nolan films is extremely close minded.

I want it to be rebooted, but I'd be happy with them taking a 8 or 9 year break. Obviously, the reboot will happen much sooner though.

While I did see this when it came it I just haven't gotten the time to post my feelings on it. It was good but not as good as the original trilogy...as expected. Doc Connors was a character that seemed to have potential and the history with Peter but it never went anywhere because SONY were bastards and deleted the conclusion of the story line in order to get sequels. As the lizard he was not as good as most of the villains seen in the Spidey films. In fact, he was only slightly better than Venom. The face looked like a goomba in Super Mario Bros.: The Movie. The web swinging also was not as good as the other films but the effects were better (To be expected for a project with this kind of money).
Andrew Garfield, while good, didn't come close to Tobey for me. Tobey was the Spider-Man from The Amazing Spider-Man comics. Andrew seemed to be more from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics even if the films name suggested otherwise. Rosemary Harris IS Aunt May and Cliff Robertson (RIP) IS Uncle Ben and that didn't change. If you look at The Amazing Spider-Man comics of the 60's, you would see an uncanny resemblance of the two characters to Rosemary and Cliff. While Martin Sheen and Sally Field did a very good job (Esp. Mr Sheen) they didn't seem like the characters I grew up reading (and watching) as a kid.
When the design of Spidey was announced, I hated it. I mean it just didn't look like Spider-Man at all except for the mask. It did grow on me, but I still don't like it. Especially compared to the original trilogy's costume, which looked exactly like the look of the comics, cartoons, and well everything he has appeared in. One thing that I think I prefer over the original is the love interest. Emma Stone is a much better actor than Kirsten Dunst which clearly shows on screen. Gwen showed more intelligence and seemed like she could take care of herself which is a relief over the originals. One thing (well two things) was the lack of Harry Osborn, Peter's best friend, and J.J.J., his hilarious employer. James Franco did a really good job with the role in the originals and you could feel the conflict when he fought Peter in SM3. J.K. Simmons as been said and dealt with. He is one of the perfect casted characters in any comic book movie. He is in the same league as Christopher Reeve and Kevin Conroy. There were no characters that had similar roles in TASM.
Peter's personal life seemed to be completely ignored. He was in High School which they could of had a 10 second scene where a teacher asked why he is tired for example, like in SM2. That will probably be addressed in the enviable squeal. Norman Osborn's appearance at the end lets me make an hypothesis that the next villain is the Green Goblin. I believe that is a BIG mistake. The original movie casted him perfectly with William Defoe and they nailed the character as well. I know that they want to do the Gwen death event but it just seems like they won't get the GG character right, or they will make him like the Ultimate version which is not the way to go. I never got the argument that GG in Spider-Man 1 looked like a "power ranger" since the original costume would look even more like a terrible Power Ranger villain.
Overall, I liked the movie a lot when I try to think past Sony's bullshit. It is not as dark as many people are saying. I think the original was darker than this. For example, when Green Goblin attacked Aunt May when she was the most vounerable and Norman was fighting GG in his mind. The look Rosemary had on that scene was brilliant. But, it still was good and I will watch it many times in the future. I still look forward to when Sony's film studio goes bankrupt (Which doesn't mean I want the employers out of a job) and the rights go back to Marvel for a true reboot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I give this a 7.5/10.

Cool review, thanks for sharing. Maybe I'll get around to seeing this before too long.

I heard Jamie Fox will play Electro in the next Spider-Man film. I'm not familiar with the character. What do you guys think?

He's not the first person I'd think of for the part.
