I give it a 2....
It's basically Rob Zombies version of Rosemarys baby...there is absolutely no pay off at the end for sitting through the slow burn that it is. The imagery is ok but people look too much into it and in turn give it way more credit because it's Rob Zombie. If it was anyone else no one would even mention imagery as much as they do now.
His wife has turned into a great actress though.

I'd give it a 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed this and yeah, Zombie was clearly influenced by Polanksi, Kubrick, maybe even Lynch and shades of Bava and Argento with some color timing...but something about it just clicked with me. I don't think it is incredible, but I feel like Zombie has really taken another step as a director. I like his stuff in general and maybe its not as good as The Devil's Rejects, but I thought it was just a really interesting movie. I agree that Sheri Moon has improved significantally, I thought she killed it for the type of character she was.
I really dug it and I had pretty high hopes for it. I'd like to check it out again before it leaves theater which will probably be pretty quick.

I have to disagree with the payoff at the end. I thought it was a great payoff. It's like evil has won, the Devil's son is born, and it at least looks different than what you might expect. I also like Heidi being worshipped as a Virgin Mary type for the supporters of Satan. I don't know man, it was a pretty good flick to me...but I can see why it's not for everyone. I think a lot of Rob Zombie diehards are kind of like WTF with this one because it's so different than everything he has done.

I agree with everything jlaw said(that's a stretch, huh buddy lol) At this point I rate it as his #3 but with more views it may be my 2nd choice. right now my list is 1.Corpses 2. Rejects 3. Lords 4. H2 5. Halloween
It had a lot going on and was reminiscent of many different mvies and styles that I enjoy.

Good review, was disappointed to not to hear all three of you discuss it, but I live in MA like Dan, and I only knew of 3 theaters around the Boston area who were showing it so I'm not surprised. I only found out at the last minute that a couple of much closer ones to me were showing it.

I'm yet to check this one out. Didn't read any reviews or spoilers, I'm hoping to go straight into it.

It won't be on the big screen for much longer. Your best bet would be home video.
