war of the worlds is an alltime classic. its about aliens. this is a remake. it was first a radio broadcast that made everyone panic because they thought it was really happing. and later was adapted to other mediums such as books movies and even a tv series in the 80s. i have been waiting for this one along time.

I heard about Tom Cruise starring in this movie a day or two ago. This should be quite interesting.

To think the novel was done back in 1898, and how creative it was for that time period, the whole invaders from beyond and the technological superiority of the aliens.
The remake is decent, and so is the 1953 film, but the best is the H.G. Wells novel. The novel has a lot of symbolism in it, and features the late 1800s British Empire taking on the alien invaders with everything they've got, but continue to fail.
There's a brand new take on War of the Worlds in the comic series League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and that's something I suggest everyone check out.

For some reason I forgot to post here. I think this movie was excellent! Amazing special efffects and acting by Tom Cruise! It was so good and made me so tense! I was actually shacking during one scene because it was way too tense and I did'nt take a deep breath for a while. It was a great experiance!

I'm sure it is a good movie, but I will never pay money supporting that idiot Tom Cruise. Did anyone see his interview with Matt Laurer? He is trying to brainwash everyone with his Scientology BS. :Die:

I was a huge fan of the original and own it.. I also have Jeff Waynes Musical version that has Phill Lynott from Thin Lizzy as the Preacher in it.. Awesome stuff.. When i heard Tom Cruise was the main character i was kinda bummed and i didnt expect much from him. But after watching it he was cool as in it... The movie was awesome with the machines catching people in the nets and the red weed was added into the story unlike the original... I kinda prefered it with out the alien ships that would of been to simalar to the original movie, the machines were amazing and the scenes of them coming out of the ground turning people into dust was awesome. The sound the tripod type o machines was amazing it rattled the cinema!!! Awesome film! I was kinda detered when i first found out about it. Due to it being a remake but i knew if Spielberg was in charge he wouldnt let me down, and he didnt... Dakota Fanning was by far the star of this movie though.. She was spot on ! Kinda reminded me in parts of an early Drew Barrymore in ET.. But i guess that was down to Spielbergs Stylings..

Absolutely loved it! Steven's way of directing and such always got my attention. Even when he directed Jurassic Park, he didn't let viewers down and he didn't let me down with this. I've always had an obssession with weird things, which kinda led to my obssession with the Tripods. Awesome effects for them. And they sounded like a tuba, lol.

Just watched it again for the 2nd time. It was soooooooooooooooo intense man! Had the stereo blasting and it felt like I was there!
Amazing movie! I guess I now know why Cruise, Fanning and Spielberg are the top of the game. They certainly proved it in this flick!

I haven't seen this one but once a while back but I remember liking it when I did. Doesn't Morgan Freeman do the voice over at the end?
