I think it's Chaney's second best role hands down. If you are a Chaney fan and haven't seen it you are missing out big time.

Well I wouldn't say it was bad. But comparing it to Son of Dracula it's no contest. Son of Dracula is just a very good movie.

It's very rare when a movie is better than a book. And the 1931 Dracula is probably the starting point of popular culture making vampires sexy. But it and the other Universal Dracula movies are worth your time. If you like reading about Vampires who aren't sexy in the least I'd suggest Brian Lumley's Necroscope series. It's excellent.

I enjoyed Son of Dracula. I think Lon was so damn awesome. He was the only one who could pull off all four of the major monsters and do them all awesome. The only monsters he never did were The Invisible Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Yea I agree he was amazing at all 4 of them! He was meant to be a horror legend right from the start! He was also the ONLY person to play his character every time.

ANd thank God for that. As great as Bela and Boris were I don't think either could begin to approach being able to do the part justice. Chaney WAS the Wolf Man.

It's a real shame this movie doesn't get more love. Chaney was awesome as Alucard. This movie beats the Hel out of all the sequels. Sure Chaney isn't as good as Lugosi. But he is MUCH better than Carradine.

Yes he was. I think he became a bigger Icon than his Father.

I just finished watching son a few minutes ago.Lon did a fantastic job as drac's son, when i first saw this movie, at the time it seemed a little boring and too much talk. But after a few viewings it really grew on me.
The special effects was way ahead of its time for sure.

I'm glad you enjoyed your newest trip too Dark Oaks Jack! It is an amazing movie! I listened too it today at work while I was walking around.
Ya know what I realized while hearing it this time around!? That girl Kay? The black haired sister who married Alucard. Did you realized that SHE KILLED her father! It was there whole plan! To have Alucard come there and kill her father. Then the will would give her ownership of Dark Oaks. Then Alucard would be master of the house.
It just doesn't make sense though. Why kill your father? Couldn't she have just married Alucard and lived somewhere new? Also why couldn't she get Alucard too bite her unless she married him? Maybe it was an agreement that he made up. who knows...
But still, killing your father is pretty sick man...
BTW you may wanna apply this to Son of Drac too JackI've got an explanation for A&C Jack. Dracula has mental powers right. Well during the intervening years between Dracula and A&C he taught himself to project his image into the minds of people around him when approaching a mirror. That way he doesn't have a mirror give away that he's a Vampire like one did in the original movie. ;D

See! His son is a natural at it. Probably could do that from birth.
