I guess even if you don't mind killing people in general, its hinted at in Wolfman and said in werewolf of London that the werewolf goes after those it loves most.So you end up killing your loved ones. Plus theres the immortality thing, wich is more of a curse than anything.

I don't know about any other Werewolf but Larry never went after one's he loves most specifically. He went after cops, gravediggers, random guys... yes he went after his dad and Gwen but that's just two. He never went after the Gypsy Meliva when he was with her...
Living forever isn't a bad thing if you make a good life out of yours and you don't age. Besides he coulda just shot himself with a silver bullet if he wanted to die. So I still don't see the downside.

I guess I don't realy know then. He never realy had a chance to go after Meliva, exept in Frank meets Wolf and then he ran away so he wouldn't.
I'd imagine its a lot worse than it sounds.I mean you'd be an outcast, having to watch the people you love die over and over again, having to deal with the guilt of killing them. And if anyone ever found out..
I guess it dosen't have to be a curse though, I mean this version of it is pretty similar to vampirism and Drac seemed pretty hapy.

Well The Wolf Man and Frankensten Meets the Wolf Man were on AMC last night so they are fresh in my mind. BTW it's the first time I'd seen either in a long time. Anywho I think he was weak. I don't mean to put down the character but my God what a whiner. He really came across as a weak willed person. I think he knew he was that way and felt he couldn't enjoy the benefits of being a Werewolf. I also think he may have been just a touch insane before being bitten. Because the way he handled it and everything. He just overreacted. He definitely had anger management problems. In fact he came across like he was bi-polar. Heck I am Bi-Polar and I'd love to be a werewolf. I think it would be great. I'd be like Jack in Wolf.

Why did Larry hate being The Wolfman so much? He spent 3 movies trying to be cured or die... I would love to be The Wolfman! Why didn't he? Because he had to kill a few people?
I'd just hang out in bad areas during a full moon and kill drug dealers or rapists ;D Ya humanside dissapears and ya instints are animalistic, so i dont think ya get a choice buddy.. If ya were able to choose, I'd be a wolfman bounty hunter! dang that would make a great movie! ;D

So I finally watched this the other night on AMC. I have always like the Wolfman the best out of all the Classic monsters.
It was cool to see part of the origin of horror genre....

Yep that's how they screwed Lugosi to make his Frankensein look horrible... read what I wrote in the quote below. I put it in the Bela Lugosi thread.I just watched the Bela Lugosi Special on that DVD and I found it amazing! If you think about it he was even a good Frankenstein because he played him properly... blind and as Ygor... too bad people have such short memories and didn't realize when he talked in that accent that it was supposed to be Ygors voice in Frank meets Wolfman... Instead that laughed at it so they had to cut it out.... for some reason they cut out the blind references too... even though he still held his hands straight out.

Why do you think Larry continued to use that cane even after it was used to murder Bela? Isnt that really creepy? Would anyone here keep using it?

I was just thinking of that after you and I were discussing it. Maybe he kept it as a reminder to try and control himself. Lest he end up like Bela. Which of course he did. (Just not as permanently. LOL)

It depends on how broke i was at the time a cane like that wouldnt be cheap ;D.

So you think he kept it due to it's monetary value?

maybe although Larry was certainly well off enough to be able to afford a new cane, the props department on the other hand may not have been.

maybe although Larry was certainly well off enough to be able to afford a new cane, the props department on the other hand may not have been. I was thinking more along the lines of the character of Larry. Not the technical problems facing Universal

What did you think of my possible explanation? That it was a reminder to control himself.

Great idea! As a reminder to how crazy it got! Even though he knows he killed a wolf while others say it was a man.

Yep. And later when he knew the truth to remember what could happen if he let the animal control him. He could end up like Bela himself.

I know it sounds crazy, but--I've never watched any classic horror movies b4
I've been thinking of renting one of the original Wolfmans at Blockbuster or simply the library.

You are in for a treat. A word of warning though. You'll end up liking them enough you'll want to own them.
