A spacecraft lands in Washington D.C And an alien Emerges with a warning for Earths Leaders. Ths film is great, its a true statement of how we over react that holds true for todays world.. Such a great story with Klaatu taking lodgings in a nearby home under the name Carpenter, Klaatu confines some of his reasons to a young boy (Bobby) who helps Klaatuu to find the local geinuis/scientist Profesor Barnhardt.. Cool feature of this film is the monstrous presence of GORT the robot sent to earth with Klaatuu. So powerfull was Gort he had the abilty to destroy the whole world! Gorts outdated these days compared to the amzing robots we see on screen today but as kid watching him i thought he was great! the folds in his legs bending kinda spoiled the robotic look but as a kid he was amazin! well he was to me.. The words Klaatu uses to open the ship "Klaatu barada nikto" were used in Evil Dead Army of Darkness by Ash to gain the necronomicon! Well as we all know he mucked it up! lol. Superb classic Movie that everyone should see!

I don't really see this as Horror... though it was an interesting movie, especially Army of Darkness giving props to it.

Still, I'm glad you brought this movie up. It isn't one to be ignored, it is something everyone should see, at least once.

Yeah good point about the Blob, I think films like the Day the Earth Stood Still, It Came from OuterSpace etc were the Blueprints for future Scifi /Horror Movies Like Alien and such... Even though it wasnt Horror in the general sense the message that Klaatu brought and the Threat was pretty Horrific..
;D I'm clutching at straws now!
Hahaa..

In short: Anything with Communist undertones was scary, which this movie had.

Unfortunately. Absolutely horrible. Maybe that's why we haven't heard much out of Keanu lately. ;D

I'm not a big Keanu fan either but don't forget Bram Stoker's Dracula and the original Matrix.

I hated him in Dracula. He was the one bad thing in that film. The first Matrix wasn't bad. The story was good. His acting was serviceable at best. He's just not a very good actor. IMHO. I just thought of another film of his I enjoyed. Point Break.
