You can watch Ghost of Frankenstein HERE!I ran through all the Franks last week and I must say that this is probably my favorite one. I love Part 1 and 2 but there's more to Part 4 (Ghost) that keeps me entertained more. I think Lon Chaney Jr. did a great job as the Monster as well! Best besides Boris by a long shot!
Maybe its Ygor and the entire story. I love the ending where Ygor puts his brain into the head of the monster. I only wish the next film (Frankenstein meets The Wolfman) did not delete all the references to Ghosts ending (Ygors brain in the Monsters body) and we could have seen how that would have went.
I give this movie a 5

Lon Chaney Jr. Who was The Wolfman. He also played Count Dracula's son in Son of Dracula. As well as the Mummy in the last 3 Mummy installments.

And he was the only actor to play all those famous parts. I agree this is a great movie. It's my second favorite Frankenstein film.

Sorry to bring the average down a bit. This is by no means the best or worst of the Frankenstein films. Those honors go to Frankenstein and Son of Frankenstein, respectively.
The whole ghostly appearance by Dr. Frankenstein seems a bit forced. Like they came up with the title of the movie first, and when they were almost done writing it they said "Oh, we better put the ghost of Dr. Frankenstein in this movie since it's called Ghost of Frankenstein."
But overall, it wasn't as good as the best of them to merit a 5, yet it was better than Son of Frankenstein, which I can't possibly give less than a 3.

Even though Karloff had departed at this point, i also consider this film, and the next, the most enjoyable of the series. It's mostly due to Bela's role as Igor that elevates it. Didn't Bela portray the monster in the next film of the series? I recall an interview where it was explained that the monster did infact retain Igors memories, and also spoke. But this was removed at a late stage of filming by Universal.

That's exactly right Mysterio. They filmed it with him blind and speaking.

I loved this movie. I thought it was much better then Son of Frankenstein. Lon was great and Bela returned as Ygor in an awesome performance!

I think Chaney was the only person to play the Monster right other than Karloff. He wasn't just scenery and gave him some character.

There was a lot of comotion about Chaney playing the monster. One critic claimed that Chaney's portrayal of Frank's monster was "Dull and boring"
Ignoring that review, I rented it from Blockbuster. I liked Karloff better, but Chaney wasn't far off as a close 2nd. But it was a nice plot LOL when Dr. Frank came as a ghost. Guess where they got the name ;D
I give it a 4

No one did it better than Karloff to me. But Chaney was absolutely amazing. His scenes with that little girl really showed amazing acting ability.

It is. Although I pick Karloff. Lugosi looked like he was smiling in frank meets the Wolfman in the fight scene at the end, and Chaney.....well...in my opinion should stick with Wolf Man.
