A story that goes beyond the boundaries of the Supernatural to the half-world of the living dead. Where a woman's soul inhabits a fly's body, where Vengeance is only a voice and where vampires suck only the blood of those they love dearest. I just realized, this very minute that best buy has this movie in stock. I'm going right now to buy it.Wish i knew about this earlier.I just came from best buy.
I saw this movie as a kid.
Boris Karloff and Bava...what more can any horror fan ask for

Sounds amazing. I've heard about it in the past, but have never gotten a chance to watch it.

I'm watching it on my bedroom computer as we speak. The atmosphere is stunning Beautiful score.
I didn't even bother to open the other 3 dvds i bought yet. I wanted to watch this first, boris karloff also did a fantastic intro as well. The language is dubbed in Italian, but IMO just seeing Boris introduce the film is good. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Just finished watching the entire movie. One thing, it didn't scare me like it did when i saw this as a kid.I still enjoyed it though.

I've had the same thing happen when watching movies that scared me when I was younger. Back when I was fairly young I saw Altered States and it scared the crap out of me. Yet I watched it again about 2 years ago and it didn't scare me anywhere near as much. It had a couple creepy moments but compared to the utter fear I had while watching it when I was a kid I was pretty let down. I like it when a movie really scares me. It's pretty rare that actually happens anymore.

I remember the third story scaring the hell out of me in Black Sabbath as a kid.I was around 9 or 10 at the time. The creepy looking ghost really made me scared of the dark..lol.
As far as horror movies scaring me now,its not going to happen.I think the more horror you watch the less effective it becomes. The only movie that made me feel a little uneasy was The Woman In Black. The atmosphere and no special effects really gets to you in that film, well at least it got to me a little. ;D
But i can easily see a movie like the ring scaring a 9 year old today though..but for people who seen a lot of horror movies, stuff like that has no effect on them IMO.I know it doesn't scare me at all.

I'm a fairly big Bava fan and this is definitely up there with Black Sunday, Kill, Baby...Kill!, and Bay of Blood for my favorites of his.
His films are stunning visually and the atmosphere is always off the hook. Argento was heavily inspired by Bava. In my mind, if you like one, you'll like the other.

Man, my love for this movie just continues to grow and grow over the past couple of years. My old post in this thread sort of just lumps this film in with some of his others, but lately, I think Black Sabbath has overtaken all of Bava's films for me personally. The three segments are all pretty good. The Telephone is a quick little giallo, The Wurdalak is so atmospheric and creepy and it's just nice to watch a vampire movie considering all the garbage that is out today, and finally, A Drop of Water...everyone's favorite segment and for good reason. It's so chilling, the old lady is freaky as hell even to this day (I think how fake she looks is a big reason why she is so scary), and it has that gorgeous Bava visual flair to it all over it. This segment is legit horror and the definite showcase for the whole anthology, but the overall package is stellar as well. I don't know, Black Sunday has always been my favorite, but the more I watch this one, the harder it becomes to actually say so.

Camper killed for old times sake man! Now how about a blu ray release of Black Sabbath.
Now that would be awesome.
