I mentioned this in another thread, but this movie is when the Halloween franchise started to follow trends, in this case adding more violence and gore.
When Jason got bigger, Halloween 4 had Michael wear obvious hockey pads, Halloween 5 cast a bodybuilder, and Halloween 6 just let Wilbur's gut speak for itself.
All three major franchises also decided to explain why the killers decided to pick up the profession, so that is another trend that H6 followed.
When Scream was big, H20 was made in that style, and it paid off big time.
Resurrection cashed in on the webcam and reality TV fads, which of course ground the franchise to a halt until RZH came out at a time when remakes were being released in droves.
Basically, some Halloween fans rag on the F13 franchise, but they don't realize how much material and ideas were borrowed.

Actually jer Wilbur was more lean and msucular in 4 he didn't have pads. But youre right when Jason came along it relfected on Michael Myers big time espeiclaly with Michael using different weapons in the later sequels like an axe or a machete ( smiths grove massacre scene in 6)

Watch the scene in H4 when Michael is on the roof and get back to me. You can see it through the coveralls. In H5, you can see the life jacket under the coveralls when Michael is floating in the water.

And technically it wasn't really reality tv since it was an internet program. So it was more about the internet than Tv. Movie is still the biggest piece of shit I have ever seen ( and i've seen TCM 4 for fucks sake!)

I'll take Halloween III Season of the Witch over Halloween II (which I also read up and had issues behind the scenes with the director and Carpenter himself as well). Not a bad movie just don't enjoy it as much as III.

I second that motion.
Halloween III is an original concept, so it is more interesting.

The feel of Halloween II far outweighs the concept and /or the script. Something about it all is very comforting or cozy to me. Same goes for HIII though.. but Im not comparing. So I never thought about it.

Perhaps the hospital scenes are . . . cozy? ;D I just felt this one dragged a bit. And I believe the director wanted it to replicate the first one and Carpenter came in and bloodied it up so it wouldn't be so similar. I guess variety is the spice of life?
I am one of the few that would have prefered a different original Halloween movie (non Myers) every Halloween (original intent) over what it turned in to, some slasher series that seemed to not really have a purpose

Rebel that is perect. For years now I haven't liked the second half of that movie and it is because of the hospital scenes. I couldn't put a word on it but cozy somehow makes sense. I really love the atmosphere of the first half hour but the second half just drags.

Yep Chainsaw it started off pretty good but it seems they used a bit of filler to make it stretch a bit. Got tedious for me. I'll have to watch it at some point once I complete my collection to see if I still have the same thoughts as I did hte last few times I have seen it. I suppose it's more of an atmospheric movie, which I don't mind as long as it doesn't drag the story for the sake of dragging. I can say one thing for sure, "The Shape" died in this movie.

I love Halloween 2...something about getting chased around a dark hospital late at night just sets the right mood. Plus John Carpenter directed it which definitely helped the movie plus Jamie lee coming back to do the 2 one kept the feeling of the first movie. The original and the 2nd one are my 2 all time favorites, as far as the franchise goes. Mike
