I liked the whole anti-gravity stairway chase at the end.

Having watched this movie again recently, it hasn't gotten better, but I am starting to notice other tidbits to it. Namely the abortion angle, and that's pretty deep.
The film also looks and feels darker, which is neat to look at. This, unfortunately, is about all the movie has good to offer, with the exception of the comic book death. That, while corny, was neat to view.
Another interesting aspect to this film is, this is the first time in the series Freddy has returned without the upper hand. In the first film no one knew about him, and the characters had to learn. In the second film, though weaker, he still had the advantage by the way he was playing around with his victims. In the third, well, everyone involved with him was still afraid of him. In the fourth, the last time he was on top, he just shuffled through like he was the top dog. It wasn't until he got cocky and messed with Alice that he, finally, got slapped around and put in his place. Beginning in the fifth film, he cannot get to Alice directly, so what does Krueger do? He gets cheap and goes indirectly through her unborn child.
It shows the petty side to Krueger, and how he deals with no longer starting off with the advantage. That is interesting, but that's about it, it isn't utilized fully and so we get a mediocre film addition to the series.
