This movie just had that fun 80's horror movie feel to it. The 80's were without a doubt my favorite period for horror. Plus, this was the last Nightmare movie that Freddy was truly scary in, before he became a prankster. 4/5 It definitely captured the 80's. And he was scary. I just adore this movie.

I also think Clu Gulager was great as the dad. I've always thought he was one of the more underrated actors in Hollywood.

four. I thought this movie was clever.. homosexual undertones. I once read that metaphorically Jessie was supposed to be homosexual and he was fighting it. Grady represented his interest and Tina the girl he wasn't interested in and Freddy inside of him was homosexuality. I agree. Freddy knows everything that goes on in anyones head. That explains the being inside and ripping out of body dreams. I did notice the strong Homosexuality reference in the film, but that never bothered me a bit. Freddys Revenge is not the best out of the whole series but still an awesome movie.

It's my second favorite Nightmare. I only like the original better.

I gave it a four. It's a very good follow up from the original. I mean they actually tried to do something cleaver. I mean Freddy being able to come out into the real world and cause all sorts of havok was Awesome. I also caught on the homosexual tones and I thought that was cool since I am a bisexual guy. I really thought that the movie was brilliant and the effects were Awesome as well. Odd I don't usually say Awesome this much.

I have always wondered why that pet bird exploded like that. Anyone have an idea?
It is one of my favorite parts of the movie cuz it was so ridiculous but it really makes no sense.

This is a good flick and it gets better with every viewing. Freddy is still a mean bastard in this one and has some great lines that are chilling, not funny. It is an odd film and I like that. I'm giving it a 4.

The primary issue I have with this film is that Krueger picked the wimpiest kid to "take over". Now, Krueger may be cold-hearted, and he may have killed children, but any self-respecting psychopath wouldn't pick a kid like Jesse. He would have tried for someone else, maybe one of the Dream Warriors (before Nancy met them, and before the events of the third film). Brad Pitt, John Stamos and Christian Slater, all auditioned for the role of Jesse. I am actually glad Mark Patton got the role. I think he was perfect for it! I watched it again last week and couldn't believe how great it was. The only weak point I noticed was the slow and uneventful ending where the goal seems to be Jesse's g/f has to convince him that he is strong enough to break the hold of Freddy.four. I thought this movie was clever.. homosexual undertones. I once read that metaphorically Jessie was supposed to be homosexual and he was fighting it. Grady represented his interest and Tina the girl he wasn't interested in and Freddy inside of him was homosexuality Film commentators often remark on the film's perceived homoerotic theme. Some people have argued that a subtext exists about Jesse's alleged repressed homosexuality (never clarified in the movie), and they point out the encounter that he has with his gym teacher in a bisexual S&M leather bar, and his flight to a male friend's house after an aborted attempt of making out at his girlfriend's pool party. [2][3] During the latter scene, Jesse, shirt unbuttoned, states that he's scared that "something is trying to get inside my body"; his shirtless friend replies, "Yeah, and she's female and waiting for you in the cabana, and you want to sleep with me." Director Jack Sholder claims that he never intended for there to be a gay subtext to the film, but has subsequently admitted that he does see it in the film, according to the "Nightmare Encyclopedia" included on the DVD box set. Mark Patton, the actor who portrays Jesse, is in fact gay. Wikipedia.org

Like most horror movie franchises theres always one sequel that takes a different direction and "Freddy's Revenge" is that sequel to the Nightmare series. It stands out the most then the others, it's the only Nightmare sequel that doesn't gets it's own sequel. You know, "The Dream Master" was a direct sequel to "Dream Warriors" and after Dream Master, there was the direct sequel, "The Dream Child"! After that they made 3 other Nightmares that where their own movies. "Freddy's Revenge" was it's own movie too but it still connects with the original and thats why I love it!
I give it 5 "Exploding Birds" out of 5!

It's really an amazing film. I have no idea how NOES fans don't list this in there top 3 of the Franchise. I mean I can understand the classic "I love the original the best" mindset. I will even throw in Part 3 because it's so iconic and well thought out. But after that... what else is actually better then Part 2? Nothing... I am being objective too. The closest to being better is Wes Cravens Final Nightmare.
The classic 80's feel should carry you through with Part 2 though. I don't know. I'm an oddball too. I still think F13th Part 8 is the 4th best in the franchise.

I agree it is the 3rd best, well the 4th after New Nightmare. It's just so weird and a lot of it leaves me scratching my head. After 1 and 3, the others take a giant fall. Parts 4,5, and 6 were crap. I do like 6 for some reason though. But 4 and 5 were so bad they are laughable.

Part 2 is the best in the series to me. 3 was decent. The rest of the series just got worse and worse. After part 3 the only decent one was New Nightmare. IMO of course. ;D

This was the 3rd Nightmare Film i saw. And I wasn't disappointed. The characters were all characters we can relate to (besidse jesse, i dont think many of us can relate to a guy popping out of our bodies). Some parts were cheesy and corny(the bird) but thats what makes the movie so likable. I only like 4 of the nightmare films and here's my favorites in order.
1. Nightmare On Elm Street 2. Dream Warriors 3. New Nightmare 4. Freddys Revenge
The only reason Freddys revenge is behind new nightmare is because i saw new nightmare first and it stuck to me
