Basically, Freddy appears and terrorizes a bunch of teenagers at a pool party in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.
Now, to some he appears invisible (as seen by some scenes, like when he jumped through the glass doors), but to others he is visible (as primarily seen when one kid approaches him to offer him help).
My question is this: What exactly happened? Did Freddy leave the dream world and enter reality? Was everyone sleeping, or was it all just one big hallucination by one of the characters?

Hmm I think that Freddy went into the dream world but what gets me is did they see Freddy killing for Jesse.

Exactly.
So, what happened?
I'd like to hear from some other folks about this, as it has always puzzled me just what was going on.

IMO Freddy was never "visible" Freddy possessed Jesse,so the kids were really seeing Jesse not Freddy.
People thought Jesse was crazy,Thats the reason one of the pool kids wanted to offer him help.
We "the audience" saw freddy on screen because it looked cooler to see Freddy jumping through windows and all ...But everybody else including the pool kids saw Jesse "possessed".

That makes sense... but how do you explain the breaking through the door and becoming invisible?

Which door?
Are you talking about Jesse's friend death scene?
Either way it goes Freddy was never visible.. Did you notice that Freddy wasn't even wearing the glove during the pool party scene...the blades actually came out of his fingers..
Possession
In freddy vs jason he also used possession to tranquilize Jason.

The glass doors that led from the house to the pool.
Also, Wes Craven said the script for the movie said Krueger entered the "real world".
The possession thing, that's probably true. I've always noticed the finger-claws, but I'm just going to assume it was just bad script writing and camera angles.
;D

This is really interesting. I'm not even sure anymore if what i said stands. After reading your last post and watching the film recently. Its hard to come up with a conclusion.
