I didn't mean no name as in never been seen in anything before. I mean it in the sense they aren't a "star". That's why Foster would work so well. He's a great actor but hasn't had a career defining role yet. Something that gets him truly mainstream notice. He isn't a household name. I think he could become one if the film had good writing and he was allowed to show his acting chops.

So I read that one of the producers said that they hadn't ruled out Englund, but that seems to be lip service more then anything else.
A cameo wouldn't be out of the question though.

That's the most likely thing they'll probably give him a bit part to satisfy all the fans demanding to see something of him in this one.

I still don't. Mostly because Englund was best at the part for drama sake. Cast a stunt double for the action for all I care. (I mean that.) If we're going back to roots like most fans want, then we should expect a dark Freddy that is mostly in the shadows and is heard more than seen. As such, Robert can still talk into a microphone and come on set a few times for the dramatic roles, can't he? I mean, how hard is it to put on a glove and wave it?
Most of the action from the first movie is him being hit over a head with a coffee pot. I could image...
"Coffee pot scene's coming up, call in the stunt guy! Okay Robert, you go take a breather. Nameless dude, come over here and stand in front of Nancy while she brakes sugar glass over year head."
Really, people, is that so hard?
And, I don't really see a point of a remake. I don't see the franchise as broken. We still have great characters in Freddy, Amanda, Doc, Maggie, Jacob. We still have Westin Hills, Springwood High, Springwood Church.
I came up with something new for this Franchise and I think it gives more justice to the character than just redoing what's already been done. To me, that's just lazy and is equivalent of giving up.
So, Robert approves? Well, in all respect and kindness to him, I don't. He's a great performer, and a great guy. But that's just it. He's a great performer. I have a feeling he'd talk nice about it regardless because Newline has been good to him and he'd see it as a level of professionalism to not badmouth them. But just because he publicly approves doesn't mean this idea is a good one. I don't want to see him on screen again because I like or dislike his taste in movies and what he does or does not approve of. I want to see him on screen again because he made the character what it is and he's got the goods as an artist to pull it off right.
I just see this whole thing as a cashcow and a greedy mistake as Newline tries to take shameless advantage off of the franchise they owe their very success to. It just reeks of sell out and I'm surprised more people aren't speaking up.

Would have loved it if Englund could have donned the sweater one last time but with him getting older & hopefully the studios want to keep the series going I understand. Still he deserved at least some sort of cameo!

A cameo would have been nice, but actually seeing Englund in the film would probably cause mixed feelings for the whole thing.People would lose focus on Jackie Earle Haley's performance.
Englund will forever be Freddy, but his time is done. If we ever want to continue to see Freddy in the future,we have to let go and try something new.
