I mean watching it FOR REAL. Like enough to make you join CLAD n stuff lol
Well I know exactly when I did. I went through 2 horror stages. The first was 1994 age 15, when my dad introduced me to Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein. I soon after bought every single Universal Monsters Classic Collection on VHS tape. I would say it had a huge impact but didn't take over my life at that point.
The 2nd and most lasting was 2000 age 20. Me and my cousin Steve started hanging out again. I saw Halloween 1 and 2 recorded from TV VHS tapes sitting under his TV. I said what is this? That's the guy with the white mask right? Me and Steve watched Jason movies when we were kids off and on.
He let me borrow them, I sat in my room and when Halloween 1 was over, I was a different person. My life would never be the same. It's like I was walking across a shaky old wooden bridge and finally stepped onto solid ground. I shortly watched Halloween 2. I immediately went to the store and bought these movies all in order. I even bought all the Friday the 13ths in order. The rest is history...

I started watching horror when i was 7 years old.
Nightmare 3 and hellraiser being the first 2 hardcore franchise horror films.
All the rest followed in time. Now i'm pretty much a psychopath..lol ;D

Hmmm well not really.I remember going to the movie House with my mom to see some of these films, and i do remember loving them at age 7 but the Fanatic stage didn't really hit until oh age 14.
When i was 7 my favorite movie in the whole entire world was the never ending story.During that time my mom for some odd reason never let me watch any of the Fridays or any Halloweens(i started those flicks at age 14).I never really understood that, because looking back at hellraiser and nightmare, they were pretty intense.
But once the Fanatic stage started to set in,it grew and grew.Especially while in the corp,me and my friends at Bootcamp would talk about horror, and our favorite films. After coming out of the corp i now had money to spend, and i started buying tons of horror dvds that turned out to be my addiction.. But all in all,the seeds of horror was planted inside me at age 7 and during the years, blossomed into what i am today.

I was 7 or 8. I saw Altered States on T.V. It scared the crap out of me. I liked that feeling. So I started watching for horror movies on T.V when I had the chance. If I saw a friend had horror movies in their collection or I should say their parents did I'd sneak them into their room to watch them. I'd say my love of horror movies is probably the biggest reason I love the holiday of Halloween. Because AMC ran horror movies without commercial back then. I'd go trick or treating and run home to watch horror movies all night. On New Years when we'd rent a VCR and movies 90 percent of the movies I'd rent would be horror movies. When we finally got a VCR of our own 90 percent of our rentals were horror movies. Even now the first place I go in the video store is the horror section.

I really only remember when i first got into it. I dont remember how old i was when i decided to join the forum. My first horror forum was for the Dawn of the dead remake. Jeremy was there. I was 6 when i saw Nightmare on elm street part 2. Then i just started to watch more and more. I rented movies each week and started watching the classics with my Grandma.

I think 6 and 7 years old is a good age to start out in horror. My son will have a whole variety of films to look into when he gets into horror,he already loves Monster House.
One day i'm hoping i could get the script i wrote turned into a movie,i called it delirium but theres a horror movie already out there by that name..so i would have to call it something else.
Tara is really pushing me to get this script out there, but i have no idea how it could get noticed, especially if i don't live in LA.

I had a babysitter when I was around 6 or 7 who rented Horror movies, and she would watch them (when her boyfriend wasn't over). I wasn't allowed to watch them, but I would sneak out of my room to peak at what was on the screen. The earliest Horror film I can remember seeing was Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood. I liked it, but the fanatic stage kicked in at around 15. I had purchased the A Nightmare on Elm Street VHS Boxset, and during this time I saw Halloween on AMC. TBS was also showing A LOT of Horror movies, as was the WB. Back when they'd show Horror movies on Friday and Saturday nights.
Another bridge to Horror was TNT's MonterVision. I saw A LOT of movies from there, and it got me to seeking many other franchises and titles. That's why I have fond memories of that show, if it was still around I think it could help introduce people to good Horror movies.

I remember a few days ago when my cousin came over my house to visit. He wanted to see a movie but hes not into horror at all,hes more of a comedy and action type of guy.So when i said yeah i have a few action and comedies in my horror room, when the guy walked in and saw the horror posters,All 6 of my Freddy Krueger gloves,Jason Voorhess Hocks,Machetes, sideshow horror figures,Hellraiser boxes in the glass dome just like in hellbound.Myers nemesis mask on a stand and all the other stuff i have in there along with the horror dvds,he freaked.
He looked at me and said, hey man you have anything alive in here.. ;D I was honored.
Can't wait to add that chucky doll to the collection, Tara already told me she doesn't want the doll in our bedroom...haha can you imagine having that doll sit and stare at us with that evil ass grin while we have sex..lol
Shes not feeling it though, only in the horror room.

For real eh, another tough question that requires me racking my poor memory.
I remember bits and pieces. I was born in '85 and the absolute earliest was '90. I remember watching random flicks on TV late at night with my parents. I use IT and JGTH as a time reference of sorts as well....because I remember renting those flicks as a kid, so we're talking roughly at least 1992 or 1993 when I started renting horror films all the time. I did that until Scream came out in 1996 and after that, I kind of just disappeared from the horror scene for a few years. I still had the Halloween, F13, NOES flicks on VHS, pretty much mainstream, but outside of a rental here and there, I wasn't too involved with the genre.
Once DVD rolled around and we got a player for the house in Christmas of 2000, the love for horror slowly started to rekindle. I remember buying the Boogeyman DVD that had like 13 slashers or something in 2001 and the old love for the big three began to awaken. In early 2002, the DVD collecting truly began and I remember going to stores like Best Buy and snagging like 20 horror movies multiple times. Once I had exhausted the retail store offerings, I started venturing out into the many other subgenres, the lesser known stuff, etc, basically the stuff you need to see to be considered a horror aficionado.
So, in conclusion, while I watched horror as a child and I have many fond memories, I can't say I started watching horror "for real" until 6 years ago when I was 17. More money, credit cards, the internet, and being the legal age for R films made it easier and allowed me to catch up on some lost time.

my Dad got me into horror movies, I had always been a sissy, if I knew something was going to scare me there was no way I was going to watch it
but one night when I was 11 me and my Dad where going through channels for something to watch and we came up on Sci Fi channel and Halloween 2 was just starting up and I asked my Dad what the movie was about and he said it was great and that I would love it
so we watched it together and I fell in love with it, by the end of the week I had my Mom going out renting Halloween for me and Halloween 2 so I could watch it again
after that throughout the years I was introduced to other series, like Friday the 13th which was on the old TNN, I remember wtaching Part 2 and thought it was great, so I bought ever F13th VHS i could find
now I am manily a Halloween and Friday the 13th fan but I still do watch other series, encluding TCM and others

I saw my first horror movie in 1985 at age 6. It was the original Frankenstein and I loved it. I really didn't start getting into horror big time until around 1990, when I first started watching USA Up All Night. I can remember seeing my first Friday the 13th Marathon hosted by Gilbert Gottfried the day after my 13th birthday. I saw many low budget 80's B-movies on Up All Night. Rush Week, Chopping Mall, 976-Evil, April Fools Day, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II...just to name a few. Joe Bob Briggs' Monstervision on TNT came along after that, and I fondly remember watching The Fog, Carrie, The Hand, and many others on that show. I've been hooked on horror ever since.

Oh boy I know you're all interested in my story ;D
I was 12. I was restricted from most R-rated films except Die Hard and that kind of stuff. I beg my parents PLEASE PLEASE CAN I WATCH FRIDAY THE 13TH PLEASE PLEASE! My Dad said yes, and my mom said no, so we all watched it, and my parents liked it. (Yeah, I know, what the hell, right?) so they bought me part 1, 2, 3, and 4. Over time I watched all of them. When I was 13 I really got into horror. At age 14 I was completely obsessed and still am to this day.
Was that too much? ;D
