What's next, a Zombieween sequel? I know I'm among the minority here, but I'd definitely be up for it.

I hope it doesnt get made. New Line is gone now so that will put the film in limbo, right ?

Cool, I'm always up for more Jason, Freddy, or Michael as long as the movies are decent and they don't turn them into laughingstocks.

I hate to tell you, but if we're looking at it objectively, the big three have been laughingstocks for many years.

True. I guess 'even bigger laughingstocks' would have been more accurate.

This has potential. Keep him serious and dark like the first and everything will be all good.

It's kind of hard to be scary anymore, especially since people go into these movies expecting them to be the best thing ever. They wind up over hyping it, and so it never reaches their level of expectations.
Movies seem to have realized this and now either go on cheap tricks for a scare (loud music) or gore. This is even more problematic for A Nightmare on Elm Street as Freddy is already known, so people will automatically expect more out of this.
I have mixed feelings on how this could go.

I hear on you on it being tough to get the scares, but in general, it feels like they haven't even bothered trying in years. For this movie, I think it is as simple as getting a very likable lead like Heather was, and cut the wisecracks with Freddy.
Maybe the character has to be completely reinvented, even in terms of looks.

Ha ha, I hear ya. I don't think we have to worry that much. They're not all that creative anyways.

Its not gonna get made. New Line owned the rights and they are now no more as a company. They were absorbed into Warner Bros. Warner owns the rights now and its up to them and they might not even want to do it.

Halloween didn't do too bad, and if Friday the 13th brings in the money, you can guarantee that Warner Bros will consider it. It'd be too much of a golden opportunity for them, and they'd only pass it up if they were that foolish.

I might be jumping the gun here a little bit, but after seeing the leaked Friday remake trailer i absolutely can not wait to see what they do with Freddy.
Jason looked really scary from what i saw in the leaked Trailer. After i see the entire Friday remake i'll have a better vision, but right now i have a lot of faith that PD can actually make Freddy Krueger scary again.Maybe even a level of scary we never seen before.

I don't think the Nightmare remake is a sure thing. One they haven't even talked to Craven about it yet and two Lionsgate hasn't signed on for it yet either. It's weird that they have signed a Director. But haven't bothered signing the production company that is supposed to make it or talk to the man who they'd have to get the rights from. From what I understand they'd have to have Craven's permission if they planned on a remake of the first film. I wonder if they are waiting to see how Friday does before continuing? If so it's going to be awhile before anything happens.

In that case i'm all for waiting. What you said makes a lot of sense.I'm pretty sure if the Friday remake does well, they won't waste anytime with elm.I just want these 2 films to be perfect,by all means. A little waiting won't kill me at all.
As far as Craven is concerned,if the price is right, i'm positive hes all for it.

Oh I'm sure he'd have no problem signing off on it. I just think it's a bit worrisome that they haven't even talked to him yet. I'm fine with waiting too. One thing is for sure. I don't want them signing to do it with anyone but PD. At least with PD there is a history of quality remakes. Anyone else is a crap shoot.

I'm glad Craven has the final say again, so now he can craft the Elm Street series into what he wants. New Line really did some disappointing things at the end there, so perhaps with the advance in technology and Craven in complete control, we'll see what A Nightmare on Elm Street was supposed to be.
The first film was made on a tight budget, but now that it's a well established franchise, I'm quite curious to see what can be done with it now. Like I said, perhaps we'll see what A Nightmare on Elm Street was supposed to be.
