I rate it a 5, it was the BEST movie of the year and Ledger is the BEST Joker officially. His joker was haunting and just plain like the Joker in the comics insane. Two Face was way better than in Forever and way more darker.
The joker makes the city back into what it was in begins almost. If you have not seen this movie...go see it now! In IMAX of course. I will post a review with spoilers after it is out of theaters or in 2 weeks.

You don't make a new thread TDK. Just post your review here. Otherwise you're just splitting up discussion. There doesn't need to be a bunch of threads for the same movie. That's why I closed the last thread when I opened this one.

alright Let me start off by saying that you should not watch this in IMAX if your IMAX theater is like a dome. It'll give you a sore neck. With that said, let's begin on the acting. I'm only going to comment on the people who reccently joined the crew: Heath Ledger as the Joker - Many people have been saying how awesome he is just from the trailers. Now I can justly say he was brilliant from seeing the entire film. also, people have been wondering if any of that humorous Joker (notably from the comics and the 1989 Batman film) will be in Ledger's dark and sinister portrayal of Joker. The answer is yes, he has plenty of puns and gags throughout the film that make him the ultimate Joker. I may be flamed for this, but I think he's topped Jack Nicholson, who portrayed Joker 19 years ago in Tim Burton's take on Batman. And I say he deserves an oscar - not because he passed away - but because his performence was utter brilliance. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face: I've never seen Eckhart before. I havent even heard of him until now, but I can say that if there is another film with him as a main role, I would see the film in a heartbeat. Now, I was a big fan of Two-face from the comics, and can say Eckhart brought the role justice. Not to mention his portrayal of Two-Face was chilling, and really showed the corruption that sprouted within him. Maggie Gyllenhall as Rachael Dawes: I only have a few words to say about Maggie's performance as Rachael. She is very good, but when it comes to the parts where she is in some sort of distress, she's just cheesy. I really wish Katie Holmes returned for the sequel. SPOILER WARNINGThe only thing I didn't like was the fact that Dent died. He would've made a terrific main villain for a sequel. Oh well, at least we had some shots of that gruesome Two-Face makeup. I'm also pissed Rachael died. But, oh well, it was sorta cool how they died ;D SPOILERS END HERENow I'm going to comment on the effects and makeup. Let's start with the effects, because there really were no effects. Director Christopher Nolan said himself he hates CGI. The only CGI I saw was in Two-Face's face, and that might not have been CGI. They REALLY filmed Bale on top of buildings, and they REALLY flipped over trucks, and REALLY made stuff explode like there was no tomorrow. Now makeup time. Joker's Makeup - I finally noticed how cool Jokers makeup was because it looked different now and then. For example, after he got seriously beat up, some of the black around his eyes was all over his face, some of the red lines over his mouth scars were gone, etc. Right underneath me is an add for SerialKillerCalendar. There's a clown in that banner. Joker sort of looked like that. Two-Face's Makeup: Wowee, I'm gonna have nightmares. If you thought Joker was disturbing, hell, you've seen nothing. Eckhart wasn't lying when he said people would be blown away. I'm not getting into detail because I want his look to be a surprise Overall, the movie was FANTASTIC. 5/5, and 100/10!

just saw it, stood in line for 30 mins just to get into the theater, it was madness, there was so many people there they had police basiclly running the show, since there had been recent violence in the theater
as for the movie, it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had watching a movie, we had a great crowd of people, there was almost no inturuptions, everybody just sat back and enjoyed the movie
as for the my thoughts, I think yahoo's review of the movie hit it right on the botton, it didn't live up to all the hype but it damn sure came close, I still give it a 10/10 just becasue of the fun you'll have when watching it
Also after seeing I've finally rest my case on whether or not Ledger desevrves an Oscar for the role of Joker and i believe he doesn't not this isn't to say he wasn't the best at the role but I think when you see the movie you'll notice that most of his acting is just placed around big words and timely phrases, he did play the role well but I believe most of his material was just taken from the script
Spolier below
also as I feared Harvey Two Face was basiclly a no factor in this movie, I think he got about 30 min of showtime and not much was done by him, it seemed like they did everything they could to get rid of his character as quickly as possible and i believe the character could have been taken much farther, especially with Echart playing him

It seems most people's complaints are on the character of Two-Face, and I agree. It seems he was just there for kicks, then discarded like an out of date fashion trend. But if you think about it, Two-Face probably wouldn't be able to translate well to a feature length film.
Other villains like The Riddler could. Joker, of course. However, I do feel he should have gotten a tad bit more out of his role. The more I think about it, the more I feel they just put the character there to show off the make-up effects.

Isn't there some kind of Spoiler Code? It blackens the words you surround in it, and the only way to see them is to highlight them with the mouse or keyboard?
I believe SoCal's board has the code, if I am not mistaken. Maybe someone could add that code to this forum? It'd be nice, especially with this topic here.

Yeah that was really funny. I'm seeing it again next week. I also forgot to mention that the Batmobile from the 60's series was at the premeire of The Dark Knight at my IMAX theater. They let me inside it, but sadly not drive it LOL

I know I am going to take a lot of crap for this.....but I thought the movie wasn't that great at all. In fact, I found it rather drawn out and boring.
Yes, Heath Ledger is a fantastic joker.....but his performance doesn't make the movie great as a whole.
Everything I have read has praised how superb this movie is - but I saw it with my wife and a buddy and we all left the theather feeling that the movie has been hyped up way too much.
Many other people walking out of the theater were saying that it was "boring".
Overall - I'd say it was "good" - but would hardly call it "great".
I just felt that it wasn't very entertaining. From what I have seen this summer so far - I thought Iron Man and Wall-E were far better movies.
3/5
Biggest complaints:
SPOILERS
Not enough action sequences!! - Way too much dialogue for a comic book film and WAY WAY WAY to much character emphasis on Commisioner Gordon!! Who gives a rat's ass about him.? Do we really need an entire Commisioner Gordon sub-plot?? YAAAAWN!
Didn't like the look of Gotham at all.
Toooo much background on Two-Face BEFORE he's two-face. It takes forever before we actually get to see him transform and then he's dead in the blink of an eye.
ZZZZZZzzzzzz!
