Is anyone else really looking forward to this? My favorite Star Trek has always been the ones with Captain Kirk and his crew. So a new movie about them is really great! They just revealed what the U.S.S. Enterprise will look like in the movie. I like it quite a bit. I can see hints of the Enterprise from TOS and the one they used for the first 6 Star Trek films.

Oh come on. If they want to tell new stories with the original characters they have to hire new people for the parts. Most of the people from the show are in their 70's and 2 of them are dead. Star Trek needs Kirk, Spock and McCoy back to revitalize the franchise. I think they are big enough characters to be able to be carried on with new people. Batman, James Bond and Star Wars all get new people why not Star Trek? The original characters are iconic. It will take a little getting used to different people playing the roles. But I'm willing to give them a shot. The guy who created Lost and Cloverfield is doing this film. So they got someone big to try and do this big to make Star Trek special again. As a life long Star Trek fan I'm really hopeful about this.

I think Trek needs a reboot as well. If you'd asked me that a decade or so ago I'd say heck no. But the last few episodes of Voyager and the entire series Enterprise turned Trek into being more about technobabble than good stories and great characters. They do appear to be connecting this to regular continuity at least in the beginning. Leonard Nimoy is appearing in the film as an Older Spock coming back in time to try and save a timeline screwed up by a Romulan (played by Eric Bana). Seeing Nimoy as Spock again will be a real treat. Seeing my favorite Star Trek crew again even if it is someone else playing them thrills me a great deal.

Well it is the best way to do what they are trying to do. They need a way to connect the original version with this reimagining. So having the original Spock going in back to try and keep history as close to his version makes sense.

star Trek definitely needs a reboot. In fact, I've forgotten all about Star Trek! I'm more of a Star Wars fan than Star Trek, but this sounds good and all I might try to see it.

They are aiming this movie at new fans. They are trying to bring new people into enjoying Trek. Nimoy is involved to connect to the original fans and continuity.

Personally I've never been a big Star Trek fan, but I may actually go and see this one. I've been hearing alot of good things about it.

I've been a fan of Star Trek since I was 7. I'd come home from school and watch The Original Series every day. I saw every movie from 4 on in theaters. I've always enjoyed the original crew more. I do like the TNG show and crew but Kirk and his crew hold a special place in my heart. I'm excited about this movie. I hope it brings Star Trek back from the disappointing direction it's been in for awhile. It'd be nice if people respected and enjoyed Star Trek again.

You had the best shaky Cam version on Youtube. It just happened to be that today the regular copy was released online. So I linked to that. Thanks for sharing. I love the trailer. I can hardly wait until May. I'm more psyched for this movie than anything else coming out in 2009.

I liked a few of the TNG films. But the last 2 sucked. I like all of the TOS movies. Even Part V that gets a lot of crap. I love that one because we see just how strong the friendship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy really is. As for TOS it only really had bad sets in Season 3. Sure some of the planet shots were hokey but like you said the show was great. The stories and characters worked even with bad effects. I really can't wait for new stories with the Kirk, Spock and McCoy triumvirate.
