Yeah because there's just no way anyone will top Christopher Reeve's Superman. Going in another direction is the only way to give this new set of films as a clean a slate as possible.

Part 2 is the best Superman movie ever!!! The Donner cut is awesome as well. Love all those extra scenes.
However - what's all this crap about "a shame to make a Superman movie w/ out Reeves" or "hope they recast for 2011"
Routh nailed Superman Returns and I don't care what anybody says - that was a good movie!
The biggest problem with Superman Returns was not the casting of Superman, it was the casting of Lois.
Kate Bosworth was no Margot Kidder. Bosworth had NO personality as that character.
And while Reeves will always be the best - Routh did exceptionally well.
He had the look and voice of Reeves down pat!
And he acted just as well
And Demon - DC is WAY better than Marvel any day!!!
:-)

I just truthfully wish that the director had stuck with his X-Men movies, because clearly the guy handled X-Men 3 after he left didnt know crap, and he didnt do too well with Superman. What'd i'd like to see is a more realistic Superman, like Luthor is an illegal drug dealer. I'd also love to see Metallo.

DC has my 2 out of my top 5 favorite Superheroes, which is Superman and Batman. However Marvel has Spider-man, who is my favorite hero of all time. I like both though, I also like Dark Horse. But Marvel does make the better movies and comics (Writing wise).

my problem is with the superman films is one character: Lex Luthor. i mean Lex is cool an all but he's the villain in every single superman film. that bores the hell out of audiences. true he wans't actually the main villain in superman 2 which i rather liked but he was in 3 and 4. imagine if every Batman film had the joker in it. It would be so boring after awhile. Not to Mention they technically had Bizarro already. Nuculear man in superman 4 was supposed to be bizarro but since it was a different studio they couldn't afford the rights to use bizarro. so they made retarded nuclear man. ever see the actor ho played nuclear mans resume? he only did 2 things not counting superman 4

your right about the whole Lex thing, although I have no problem with him being involved in the movie as long as he's not the main villian, as I hope they do with the next movie
As far as Dc vs Marvel in movies, Marvel won the battles last year but DC won the war with TDK
and I think a lot has to do with DC not putting out nearly as many movies as Marvel, I mean we're already on our 4th Xmen and Spiderman movie

Man of Steel comes out next year. I like Henry Cavill as an actor. I'm curious to see him in this role.

I thought it was ok. Sometimes less is better. We have about a ten and a half month wait. I don't care to see the majority of the movie through the previews before it actually comes out.

The footage I saw at comic con was very promising. There was a brief second of Zod and Superman fight as well. Can't wait for it!

just a little over a month before hopefully I live my dream of seeing an amazing Superman movie in the theater, I don't think I've ever been more excited for a premier of a movie in my life, I hope Man of Steel really improves upon the Superman character in people's eyes, there's been so much fanboyism on Batman recently, its about time Clark Kent gets back into the spotlight

I want to be excited for Man Of Steel...but. Here's what bothers me. 1. Zod. Okay, why Zod? Of all the Superman villains that COULD work, you choose someone we have seen already. Looks like a similar plot as well, time will tell.
2. The origin. Everyone and their mother knows it, do we really need to see it AGAIN!? Hell, there was a show about his origin for 10 seasons!
3. Creative choices, Kal-El's birth being " alarming on Krypton" and " being special" according to Kryptonians, worries me that this could be like a Darth Vader space Jesus deal.
4. The suit. It looks...eh. I don't mind redesigns, hell I liked The Amazing Spider-Man suit, I liked both Batsuits from the recent movies, but this reminds me of that Nic Cage Superman movie that almost happened.
5. Jenny Olsen. Granted this is just a rumor, but seriously? Making Jimmy Olsen into a girl? Is that really necessary?
6. Zack Snyder. He hasn't had the greatest track record, Sucker Punch anyone?
7. The design of Zod, he looks like an action figure. Literally, I would have expected that in the 90's, it's 2013. C'mon.
8. The supposed tie in to Hal Jordan ( the Green Lantern). This bothers me because they are gonna try to do a DC movie universe in lieu to how Marvel did it. Which likely means a re booted Batman ( fuck that Joseph Gordon Levitt's John Blake being Batman shit, just no.)
9. Pa Kent being okay with Clark letting people die. In one of the trailers we see a teenaged Clark saving a bus full of kids, Pa Kent tells him he shouldn't have done that because it makes him being different obvious. Umm...what was he gonna do dude? Pa Kent wouldn't act like that.
10. Christopher Nolan. Yes I know he's a film darling these days, but with how abysmal Rises was, and how little involvement he has had with this, giving Snyder a lot of control worries me. ( Keep in mind, I loved Batman Begins, Dark Knight was also a good follow up, but not the Godfather 2 or Empire Strikes Back of comic book movies like everyone claims it is. It's a remake of Heat, but with Batman juice poured all over it. Still a good movie though)
So, while I have my worries, I will still go see this. But I am not very excited.

I take back my opinions of the suit, it has grown on me a lot. Still iffy on this though.
