I do prefer the original version. It's a much darker film. Though I'll admit I like the American version too. Because of Burr. Probably because the first Godzilla movie I watched was Godzilla 1985. Which had his character return.

I've only seen the American version and that was earlier this month when I came down to see you last month and I really liked it. I always thought they were cheesier than the original was and I am interested in seeing more of them. As for the whole anti-american part of the japanese version, I haven't seen it so I can say but it would make sense since it was released less than a decade after the US dropped the atomic bombs. That would alos be a reason why the American version was changed because at that time there was definetly still alot of bad feelings in the US toward Japan because of the war so they probably decided to change it in order to make the most money possible off of it. Something's never change.

The Steve Martin thing is funny. If I remember right they just call him Mr. Martin in Godzilla 1985.
