Yeah, it sucks that after all these years of pining for an Evil Dead 4, it isn't going to happen. I don't care how much or little Raimi and Campbell will be involved...Bruce not being Ash is a huge mistake. Work his age into the storyline. I think everyone at this point could see him as a tired 50 year old still working in S-Mart, being called on to stop the Deadites one more time...it would be hilarious.
Bruce making a cameo is stupid...it's just going to remind me that he's the guy who should be the lead.

The new one isn't even going to have the character of Ash in it.

As much as I love Ash and the franchise I'm actually kind of interested in what they came up with. I know Raimi and Campbell are involved by how much Campbell tweets about it. Raimi has always come across rather protective. If he and Campbell are o.k. with what's being done it must be a somewhat refreshing idea/story. I'm willing to give it a shot and am hoping for the best.

I agree with Kyle. I am happy they are remaking this and without that character. They KNOW they cant replace Bruce, so they wont even bother trying. That shows much respect. It also opens the door to a whole new storyline. That means we get a whole new movie out of the great core concept. It just might be great. Im psyched about it. We will always have our blurays if we miss Ash.

Check out the red band trailer. Now this is a remake I want to see! They have gone back to the ultra gory roots of the original film. EDIT: www.horror-movies.ca/evil-dead-remake-no-cgi/The director says that no CGI was used in the making of the film.

I have no doubt that this will be an incredible horror film. This looks to push a new but familiar mythology like having one particular character control all the possessed beings. While reading the script, I cared for the characters which has been a long time. The only problem I saw with the script is some of the dialogue. But that was said to have been worked on which is splendid. Someone also made a really great motion poster here.

Thanks for posting that motion poster. This trailer blows me away! From the trailers I was actually more excited to see this film than Texas Chainsaw.

It also opens the door to a whole new storyline. That means we get a whole new movie out of the great core concept. It just might be great. Im psyched about it. We will always have our blurays if we miss Ash. Here's my take. When The Evil Dead was made, no sequel was intended. It was a cheap movie that turned out to be relatively successful. When times got tough, Raimi and Campbell campaigned for a sequel in hopes of regaining some of that success. Which is where they further expanded the Ash character. In the original Evil Dead, Ash was no more than the guy who survived. It wasn't until Dead by Dawn and Army of Darkness that he became the hero of the trilogy. I don't necessarily see this as just a remake of the original, though. I have seen some elements in the trailer that expand into the sequels, too. I think they are taking the best elements of the trilogy while taking a unique route with the story, without character bias (Ash) and combining it into one all-or-nothing remake. With that being said, I hate judging a movie by its trailer, whether good or bad. But when it's all you got, it's all you got, and the remake looks absolutely fantastic.

Whether Ash is in the movie or not, the male lead will ALWAYS be compared to Ash and in most minds' he will be Ash.

When I saw the first few moments of the trailer, I felt like it'd be just another throwaway remake or reboot, but then as it went on I could see the special effects and feel the passion. It has definitely got me eager to see it, mostly due to the fact I've wanted an Evil Dead sequel since, well, my earliest days dabbling into Horror.
One thing I am curious about is, will the film be a standalone? Will it forge a sequel, and if so, will it bring back those who survived or an entirely new cast? Finally, despite Ash not being in the film, will someone fulfill the role of the hero for a series?
I like Ash. But I understand why he isn't in this one. As much as I think he could do one more film as the Ash character, it's probably better for him to begin the process of passing the torch to somebody else. So long as the films keep the spirit, I'm down.

The film is said and written to be a standalone piece. But, they could easily connect it to make it a sequel. They could have Ash be the father of David and Mia (their parents own the cabin) and there is an abandoned Oldsmobile near the cabin.

I wish the MPAA would just disband already. It's so stupid. Or better yet, since that will never happen, the theaters that refuse to support NC 17 need to grow up and quit trying to be our parents by keeping those nasty films away from us. I think theaters need to support films rated NC 17. I think there are plenty of people that would go watch films with that rating if given the opportunity.

If movie theaters did their job, why would NC-17 be an issue?
