Any of you guys ever watched Scream? Any of the movies? I certainly have, all 4, and absolutely loved them. They're self aware, and quite a few references to Friday films are contained within the dialog. In the original's opening, the killer taunts a girl over the phone with horror trivia and asks her: 'Name the killer in Friday the 13th' and the girl jumps up and shouts 'Jason! ' But of course, in the original, it was Pamela. Stupid girl. So, yeah, I suppose this is where you discuss your thoughts? Oops, there's already a thread on this

Um, not to be rude or anything but this should be in the modern horror board. This applies to black and white horror films up to 1960. Scream came out in 1996.

It's all good. It's in the right section now. I didn't use to like the Scream franchise. But a few months ago I rewatched the first 2 and enjoyed them. So I finally watched part 3 and 4. I'm hoping 5 happens.

Not a huge fan of the Scream franchise. But I do enjoy the Original and also the forth one as well, The Original is a very well put together horror film and used a smart idea of being self aware but unfortunately a whole bunch of horrible rip-offs came after it.

^ I loved all 4. 3 being the worst in my opinion.
I Know What You Did Last Summer was a rip off of Scream.

Halloween H20 was also a Scream ripoff.

I haven't seen these in years, but as a kid I remember the previews and all the hype. Back then we had one of those cable black boxes (anyone remember those?), so when movies left theaters and wallowed a bit before hitting the home video market, we could see them, and Scream was one of the movies I was able to view due to this.
To be fair, I've only seen the first two. I've seen the original... three times, I think? And the second I've seen only once, so my memory is fuzzy. I've heard mixed reviews about 3, and I've heard mostly positive things about 4 with a nitpicking review or two here and there. I may, one day, get around to seeing these two.
As for the original, it was definitely a good time. When the 80s had long left left us, here came a movie to bring the Horror genre back - with a twist. I loved it, and I still do.

I liked the original movie, but the rest tapered off. A lot.

I don't think I ever gave my thoughts on Scream, did I?
Scream is nostalgic for me. I remember when I was 3 or 4 years old and watching it at my sisters birthday party and they were scared whereas I was just enjoying the movie. Scream is...an okay movie to me. I like it for the most part, I just wish they toned down the comedy and stuck with the tone in the beginning with Drew Barrymore. I didn't mind Billy Loomis being the killer ( he's the only Ghostface with a sensible motive.) but I didn't like Stu being the killer with little to no explanation. Aside from that, I still like this movie a lot.
