Is it a smart phone or a "dumb" phone as basic models are called now? Are you planning to upgrade soon?
I have an iPhone 4S and am sticking with it even though the iPhone 5 is out now. Upgrading simply isn't in the budget at the moment.

iPhone 3GS for me right now. I would upgrade to the iPhone 5 but it is just trash compared to the competition. So I will be getting the Nokia Lumia 920 as soon as it becomes available. I love how Windows Phone can run much more smoothly than both iOS and Android on inferior hardware. The 920 now has better hardware than all phones on the market and it still has the smooth OS.

The Windows phones look interesting. I have a Nexus 7 tablet running Jelly Bean and it is really good as well.

BUMP: What was your first cell phone? I got a Nokia 5185i for Christmas in 1996. It was basic, but you could change the face plate and download free ringtones. You had to buy a special battery if you wanted the vibrate function and it was rather bulky. www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=53

My dad got my mom an iPhone 5 for Christmas. The funny thing about it is that she isn't a tech person and had a basic texting phone before that. I helped her out by setting up her Apple ID and getting some useful apps.

spareone.com/Any of us who have smart phones have to deal with pitiful battery life. The SpareOne only uses one AA battery and never needs charging, so it works as the perfect emergency phone. It doesn't even need a SIM card to make a 911 call. I think it could end up being quite successful for cars and also for people who aren't into complex technology and just want something for when the car breaks down.

I've never owned a cell phone. Same. I was given one for Christmas at one point, a Pay As You Go phone, but I never used it. I'd either forgotten I had it, or was already too far gone to go back and get it. I feel kind of bad because I wasted a whole lot of minutes on it when the phone expired, but then again, I didn't ask for it.

I have 4. I Have an iPhone 3, but the thing is outdated and I can't install new apps so I got a MyTouch 4g and the screen broke. I got a replacement from insurance MyTouch Q. I also have an iPhone 4 with a bad sim card port. I have bad luck with cells.
