Some movies (Phantasm 2 for example) are not on DVD yet, so VHS is the only option. Phatasm 2 is out on Dvd single and in the Sphere Boxset.. The Sphere Boxset is only £10.99 on Hmv.com It doesnt say in the description what region it is.. I read somewhere though that the chances are slim to none for you seeing any kind of Phantasm box set in region 1 as a couple of different studios own the rights in the US. dunno how true that is.. I checked out hmv.com and they have an international page wich includes Canada Jeremy. www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=415683check it oot.. Nice price! It was £34.99! NOW £10.99! They Also have the Hellraiser Puzzlebox set for £14.99! which again was £34.99

I stand corrected.
Well, if all works out, someone is sending me a region-free DVD player, so I would have something to play them with.

I've been doing really good upgrading some of my VHS to DVD lately. Now I don't know what to do with the VHS's. I don't want to go through the hassle of selling on Ebay.

Hm...a tough decision, since I have some stuff on VHS I'm attached to, I think it's probably gonna have to be the 3rd option for me: I don't care long as I get what I wanted to get.

There are some movies I have that don't want to get on DVD. I am fine having them on VHS.

Those are only good if you have a High Definition t.v. As many people are starting to buy them they are still in a monority of homes compared to regular T.V.'s

I don't have near the money for this HD stuff, so I will stick with my regular DVD's.

Not exactly. VHS tapes break down over time. DVD's don't. And I seriously doubt regular DVD's are going to be discontinued that soon. They are too popular and too many people still use them.

Yeah, but DVDs become loose in their cases all the time.
I don't really care, but my mom wants me to buy DVDs cos you can fit more on the shelf. But man, it's hard to stack them properly!

The thing that I don't like about DVDs is when you get a new one and it's came loose in it's package and is scratched and won't play. That just happened with my new copy of 'Don't Go in the House' from deepdiscount.com. Now I'm gonna have to package it up and send it back.

It does happen. But I'll still take a DVD over a Video Tape any day. LOL

I say both. Some of the best movies aren't on DVD yet.... and besides that I collect 80's horror VHS movies especially clamshell, big box and ones with different cover art.
If you have a really good VHS deck, with a good composite cable and a nice HD TV VHS movies look rather good. On my 16:9 46" TV I can stretch fullframe VHS movies and they don't look stretched at all on the screen (well barely sometimes)...
Some DVDs are nothing but the VHS print on DVD, nothing more.
As for BR/DVD there is a combo player coming out soon and from what I hear will be really reasonable... 200-300 bucks. As long as they are combo players both formats will survive.
